CD-ROM not functioning...i want to reformat my laptop i have external hard drive and cd for repair...how can i used it?
Try this method it may work.
If you can boot up with the external USB hard drive on your Acer, then use a working computer and copy the Windows installation CD onto the external hard disk then connect the USB externak hard disk to the USB port on your Acer and boot up using the external hard drive.

If the plastic hinges and the tiny rubber press contact are still on the keyboard, you can align the key over the plastic hinge and press firmly down until you hear the key click back in place.

You can use a full size USB keyboard and plug it into the laptop's USB port.

if you can get an external cd/dvd drive from a friend, then you could solve the problem.
other solutions would mean that you will reinstall windows again. This takes more time and has a few tricks to be done from a flash drive.

There should not be a password set in the BIOS unless you set it up with one. You can clear the BIOS to BRAND NEW state. Acer can guide you through this if it is under warranty. If it is not, write back and I will help you do this.
