To get better color, 343 AND 348 must both be used.

Also set printing preferences to use both cartridges when a setting option exists.

using 348 cartridge only will only produce greyscale black and white images.

hi, first turn the printer off and unplug it and let set for 30 mins. Ig that doesn't work try taking the cartridge out and reaching inside where you put the cartridges go and clean the print head with alcohol with a q-tip.

When printing colored picture the yellow color is not working

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Picture prints too pink

What you see on the screen is quite often not what prints. Sometimes the screen will not show a slight color anomoly. If your pictures were taken with a digital camera, this is quite common. Try the photo enhancement software that came with your camera, or alternately, your printer. They all supply the software because of color corrections that are at times necessary. Sometimes always. Hope that helps. Try the "Auto Correct" function that most photo correction software has. That should help!

Messy print when using glossy paper.

ok. sometimes the ink for hp if its not photo ink will do that. go to your printing settings/preferences and adjust your ink out put to less and dry time to more. you may have to adjust a few times to get the right balance. if you dont want to set it up for all printing you can also change settings when your ready to print. . just follow same steps when you are going to print. but you have to do it everytime you want to print a photo. also make sure to set your paper selection to glossy photo paper

How can I print a color picture without using a black catridge?

Black ink is an essential part of the printing process. The black color is only made by the black cartridge, the color cartridge does make "black".
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
  • Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
  • Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.
