Just obtained means just purchased from a normal seller[shop]? Take more time with the manual until you are certain that the device is not functioning as it should - then return to the seller as faulty Sometimes it is easy to miss something- especially with these new touch screen systems Do come back We are all learning here

My touch screen isn't working properly. Especially around the edges.

May need recallibrating which is somewhere in menu settings.this will allow you to correct the sensitivity and surface area to the right parameters.if not menu show a recallibration choice then it was factory set and the ribbon cable or digitizer part of screen is faulty.this is more likely with screens that tilt and swing from camera body.not knowing the make and model of camera doesn't help me make a better answer.

DCS T70 LCD does work properly .I mean to say if i try to use one function another function gets started instead of desired function

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided, it seems that the touch screen panel is not aligned. You can try Calibrating the touch screen to resolve the issue.
Calibration option is in the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera. Calibration option enables you to perform calibration when the touch panel buttons do not react at the appropriate points where you touch. You can use the paint pen, touch the X mark displayed on the screen. The X mark moves on the screen. Once the calibration option is finished successfully, the touch screen should work.
The Calibration option can be done only if the Menu is accessible.
You can also perform a power reset before performing the Calibration.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Sony HDR-HC1 The buttons on the touch panel do not work at all. The manual says to reset the calibration but this is impossible as you have to access the calbration through the buttons on the touch...

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon connector between the LCD and the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to usually be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

My touch screen is not working correctly can it be repaired

in settings menu you will find a test to set the touch screen. Every device with touch screen have this test. After you will run this test, every thing goes back to normal. This test it should look like a white screen with small cross. You should push in the center of that cross.

Touch panel menu unaccessible

Me too! The camera was working perfectly until yesterday and when I turned it on today, it selectively ignores some buttons on the screen - and pressing the "Menu" gives me nothing. I've tried to reset it through that pin hole button, but it just resets the machine back to its default.
