I have been given this unit secomd hand and can't seem to recoerd properly on it. I have in connected to my tv and virgin+ box via scart leads. Is this the correct way to do it and what goes where? When I record on it it says it's recording but then when I play it back all there is is snow. Please help.

this unit has an optical-eye, not recording heads. opening the drawer then unplugging unit will expose the eye. never look into the eye when unit has power. this x-ray can and will burn your owh eyes lens&retina. good luck. clean with 90% isopropyl alcohol and q-tip. mch

Channels 1-5 are I believe for Analogue reception. To record from my digital Freeview box, I'm plugged into SCART port 2 (bottom most port on right hand side of machine as you look at it from the front). Use your remote to change the channel to A2 with the <CH> rocker button just above the video+ button on the controller. This will then record whatever channel your freeview box is set to - the only pain is you can't watch a separate channel whilste recording.
Some DVD recorders don't like certain types of media. Does this happen with all blank dvd+rw disks or just with that specific brand? If it's that brand then you should just use a different one.
std by light is on?means red light is on.If not than check fuse,vdr,and regulator ic in power unit.if fuse is open than change these component because fuse will blow if the regulator ic is faulty.
