Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
I recently ran into an issue where my Canon ir3380 gave the error "replace waste toner cartridge" and would not print any more. The waste toner cartridges are pretty expensive, but with this simple 'hack' I was able to get back printing in no time. How to reset waste toner cartridge error in 5 minutes. #1 remove waste toner cartridge #2 empty contents (gently) in a waste container. (note, BE CAREFUL not to breathe in the toner. have a fine mist spray bottle ready to water down the dust with repeated sprays of water mist as you are emptying the toner waste into your second waste container. I used a plain plastic bag in a waste basket) #3 When you have most of the toner out of the cartridge through the neck (don't need to be completely empty), go to next step. #4 you will notice a small clear plastic rectangular piece held in with two small phillips screws on the bottom corner of your waste cartridge. Remove the two screws and gently dump the toner out of this little piece and clean it (so its clear) with a cotton swab. Then reattach and tighten both screws back in. (There is an optical sensor in the main printer that detects the waste toner level with this piece, so once its clean again, then the printer will reset the error). #5 Replace the waste toner cartridge and you are back in business!
