I have replaced the coax connector on many TVs. Sometimes you can even use the original connector. You have to solder it in , using a heavy enough soldering iron or gun on the ground of the connector after resoldering the inner connector to the tuner board. I have even just installed a pigtail of RG-58 coax directly to the tuner board with a coax connector on the end and secured the whole thing with Nylon clamps. This is a problem that occurs very frequently. I have replaced the coax connector on many TVs. Sometimes you can even use the original connector. Depending on the cable company, some like Comcast have gone mostly digital meaning when you connect the TV directly to cable without a cabe box you will only get around 35 channels. The only way to get around that is to get a cable box. If you have Comcast service already they offer what they call a DTV cable adaptor which will allow you to get most cable channels. These DTV adaptors in most areas are free for the first two per household. I hope that helps : )
This problem will have to be taken or shipped in to a service center for repair or replacement of the cable connector on the main board. The telephone number for Insignia customer support is 1-877-467-4289. and the website is www.insignia-products.com. You can also call the Best Buy customer support telephone number. 1-888-237-8289. Give them you make and model number of television and the problem you had with the broken cable connection. They will be able to tell you how you can get service for your television. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
Call your cable company! Whoever installed your cable did not set up your remote or give you one of their remotes. Most of the time your tv must be set on channel 3 or 4 and your tv has to be set to cable. Then you can use your remote or the cable company's remote.
There should be a part designation written on the board under that part. FOr example Qxxx or Dxxx. Can you post that here please? I can cross reference that designation using the model number to get you the part number, cost and description.
It was in the guide plus set up that I needed to redo. When I was originally using it I had it setup to be connected to cable box, but when we moved it into the other room when we got the new tv we recieved, there wasnt a cable box in there. I didnt know that I just need to reset the menus to delete it being connected to cable box and it worked. I hope this will help someone else if this problem occurs with their TV. Ron
I found one of these that had an inductor coil
which is in series with the hoizontal output transistor base open up. It had a bad solder connection where it goes through the circuit board. This might be what happened to your tv.
If so, it needs to be resoldered.
What happens is that you loose horizontal drive and since the voltage that lights the filiament of the picture tube is derived from the flyback transformer this voltage is gone.
Another possibility is that you may have an opem filiament (rare) or a loose connection on the picture tube driver board which is mounted on the neck of the tube.
Stargazer
Regarless of the reason I will give you ,call a service tech for an estimate since is the safe way to correct the problem.
First when you loose the pix put your forearm in the face of picture tube and if the hair in your arm stands up is a good sign because you are not loosing high voltage to the picture tube but if the hair does not stand up it means the crt looses high voltage and for that you need a service tech to troubleshoot. The other reason might not be as expensive If you have high voltage by doing the previus test it might just be a loose conection in the crt board.Do not remove the back cover unless you know what are you doing. Is not safe.
Common problem Order 215543 from a company such as Union Electronics..1-800-648-6657 Use only the orginal, the replacement melts to quicky from the heat of the solder. They don't have a minimum order. Also make sure all the tuner shield grounds are resoldered. Be careful. easy to solder short.
