Missing lines of print

When printing a doc some complete lines are missing

Don't think it's the cartrages as it will print a web page ok. It seems to be Word docs that cause the problem. I even have two pages of one doc, one will print ok the other won't.

Have you checked the page setup section and made sure the page is set correctly also use the print preview option to make sure the document looks fine before printing. It could be that you are using symbols that the printer is not recognising.
If you make a new document in word does it print fine ?

I've checked the page set up and think it's ok, perhaps you could give me some pointers here. The print preveiw looks fine, everythings there. I've just tried a new word doc and the same problem is ocuring, half lines missing horizontaly, seems to be the tops of the text.

What version of word are you using?
Try changing the margins as described in this article:http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/bot...

Hi, I'm using Word 2003, I've tried changing the margines around but no joy. Some of my old docs still work fine but new ones have this problem. To print a letter the other day I deleted the text on an old doc that is ok and re-wrote my new letter, it worked fine.

Hello
You either have to change the ink cartridge or try to clean the ink cartridge nozzles as described in the user manual;
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/924/en/om_en/om_en.pdf
On page 54 it states the following:

To clean the ink cartridge nozzles:
1 Load plain paper. For more information, see "Loading Paper" on page 19.
2 In Windows XP, click Start-Control Panel-Printers and Other Hardware-Printers and
Faxes.
In Windows 2000, click Start-Settings-Printers.
3 Right-click the Dell Photo AIO Printer 924 icon.
4 Click Printing Preferences.
The Printing Preferences dialog box opens.
5 Click the Maintenance tab.
6 Click Clean Print Cartridges.
7 If the print quality has not improved, click Print Again.
8 Print your document again to verify the improved print quality.
9 If you are not satisfied with the print quality, wipe the ink cartridge nozzles, and then print
your document again.

hope this helps.

How to check the ink level onC4480 printer

To check the ink levels from the HP Photosmart Software
1. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings, point to Print Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox.
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab, and then click the Printer Services button.
The Printer Toolbox appears.
2. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab.
The estimated ink levels for the print cartridges appear.

Or

Print a self-test report
1. Load A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
2. Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button.
The product prints a self-test report, which might indicate the source of the printing problem.
3. Make sure the test patterns show a complete grid and the thick color lines are complete.
• If more than a few lines in a pattern are broken, this might indicate a problem with the nozzles. You might need to clean the print cartridges.
• If the black line is missing, faded, streaked, or shows lines, this might indicate a problem with the black or photo print cartridge in the right slot.
• If any of the color lines are missing, faded, streaked, or show lines, this might indicate a problem with the tri-color print cartridge in the left slot.

User prints a Powerpoint 2007 doc and several of the slides have missing info. One has the upper left quadrant partially printing and two others have 3/4 of the slide partially printing. Fresh install of...

I would recommend you download the latest drivers for your printer, and also check to see if your powerpoint has updates as well.

also, its possible your printer does not have enough memory to print complex graphics, try reducing the quality or resolution of your file.

Printer keeps skipping lines when printing. very annoying

is this a case of the dots are missing for a valid line, or do you mean a line feed is added at the end of a line, ie you get 3 lines of text occupying 4 lines of space , or 4 lines of text occupies 4 lines of space, but one line has no printed dots on it? to make it more obvious, what does a document with say text thats 3cm tall look like? as it sounds to me like contacts need cleaning.. *** note for info: do not rely on printouts from within a BROWSER as that may have unpredictable results. All text will be treated as a large block of PIXELS and Not TEXT. also Non Printer fonts could cause similar issues.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.
