Jvc HR-S9700 -TAPE JAMS, THEN SWITCHES OFF,CASSETE DOOR REMAINS OPEN,DOES NOT ACCEPT OR PLAY

Dear All, The tape suddenly jamms, the jvc hr-s9700 switches off, once I even could not eject it at all, had to open the cover and take it out.The cassette door remains open, cassette can not be inserted or played again. Happens for third time, the repair man ( in faraway different town, can't go anymore...have to repair it myself) said it is some sort of switch, which controls the tape mechanics, is the problem and needs replacement or cleaning. He did it last time, and after couple of hours play it stoped again.Managed to pull the tape out, the tape was not fully inside the cassette, door remains open. Opened the lid, can not find/do not know how the swich looks like to replace it or clean it. Also, where to get/download for free service manuals for jvc hr-s9700 ? Please, help !!! Thank you very much for your detailed answer and help !!!

The switch is on the electronic board under the tape compartment. you have to unscrew the screws and unplug all the wires to take it out. be careful though, you have to put it back the way it was otherwise you will mess up the machanisim on that machine. good luck

JVC HR-VP628U VCR does not load the tape into the machine. If I manually push it down it loads the tape onto the play head and plays etc. pressing Eject does not eject. replaced all belts already.

There seems to be some damage to the cassette holder. It could also be something connected to the mode switch, being faulty or in the wrong position. Pressing down on the tape would not have helped it either!

It could be a tape end sensor problem, take up reel is not working, or a idler assembly issue.

Casset cover door will not open when pressed

You probably have one of two problems. Either the tape has been eaten by wrapping it around the capstan or else the head has not retracted to let the door open. If the tape will still play, then it is not the first problem. If the tape will not play, then it could be either problem. If it is the latter problem (head not retracted) then you may have a bad belt (broken or slipping). The tape wrapped around the capstan problem may be caused by a belt or tire being bad but a different belt or tire than the head not retracting problem. This may seem confusing to you but that is just the nature of the thing. In short, I'd bet you have a bad belt or tire that needs replacing. I hope this helps. Good luck.

JVC HR-S9700 TAPE STUCKS, HAVE TO BE PULLED OUT, CASSETTE DOOR REMAIND OPEN,VCR SWITCHES OFF-CAN NOT BE PLAYED AGAIN

Check out the drive that works the unloading and loading operation of your machine. Also check the switch that is activated by the presence of your cassette. If something is wrong with the latter, the tape will not load and unload properly. And under those circumstances your machine will not work.
