Whirlpool has water drip inside fridge

If you have the wire metal shelf model, there is a wrap around cooling plate (back and two sides) at the top of the inside. The frost that forms on this while it is running melts off after the compressor stops and the water runs down, into the drip channel, and out the drain hole at the center of the channel on the back wall. Clean out that hole so the water will flow out instead of down the walls to the bottom of your refrig.
If you have the glass shelf model, you have to remove the metal cover at the bottom back of the refrig and clean out the defrost drain hole located there.

the bottom tray/salad compartment will always get a fair amount of condensation because they are glossy plastic(bathroom paint is matt)the only "cure" is kitchen towel under the tray and remove once a week.as for the drain it is normally at the back and does collect a fair amount of "moss"in the tube,pour some clorine bleach down to clear any out.the design of the shelves directs the side/back condensation down the drain.

There is a tube at the back of most fridges which routes freezer water to a evaporator tray at the bottom.

Usually in the fridge at the top just below the freezer is a small collection cup. If that cup or tube is blocked then it will drip water into your fridge.

Hi, this problem is going to be with the running thermostat. (cold Control). It has gone bad and stays open which in turn will keep the compressor running continually and will cause the fridge to get colder and freeze food. It can normally be located in the control panel inside the fridge (it is the control that has wires, the other is the damper). Locate the thermostat and replace it. sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

I have a Whirlpool TopLoad Fridge (not a side by side).
Things you'll need
30 minutes
Small socket for cardboard panel on lower back and panel inside freezer
Bicycle Pump
4 Towels
Hair Dryer

1. Take everything out of freezer
2. Turn dials off in fridge for both compartments
3. Pull fridge out so you can get behind it and unplug it
4. Be vigilant of ice maker line if installed
5. Pull cardboard panel off on back
On the left side you should see the back of the skinny drip pan and a small line. That line goes from the freezer and is most likely clogged.
6. Blow dry the back of the freezer enough so the ice is thawed at the bottom of the back panel.
7. Remove the two screws on the back panel. You may just be able to pull it toward you enough to get behind it. You'll see the coils and fan, and underneath these you may see some ice sheets and there should be a hole. That is the drain line that is clogged. I heated up some water and poured it over the drain to thaw the line. You may want to remove the crisper drawers and put some towels down there to catch the overflow. Once the ice is thawed enough at the drain. Go to the back of the fridge and place the end of the bicycle pump at the bottom of the drain hose. Apply pressure to get a good seal but keep pumping. You may have to go back and forth between pumping and thawing, but you'll know it is clear when you hear air going into the freezer and then the wonderful moment when water drips into the drip pan as advertised!

Keep those fridges less full so that the door stays sealed and keep the seal clean and also keep your doors from having too much stuff so the weight of the door doesn't pull away.

Okay, put it back together, turn everything on and be careful of your cord and lines when pushing the fridge back. Thank the Lord ours has wheels and man,was it cruddy underneath. Vacuum those coils underneath the fridge too for proper air circulation.

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.

not much can be done about compressore noise, short of replacing it. but your drain issue is easily fixed, with that whirlpool heat strap you mentioned.it actually wraps around the heater in frezer section and the idea is that when the unit goes into a defrost cycle(3 or 4 times a day) the heater heats the strap(which runs into drain tube) up as well, preventing tube from freeezing up and eventually backing up into your freezer floor

My Whirlpool fridge had water droplets falling onto all three shelves and pooling unter the crisper drawers. I solved the problem by clearing the ice-clogged drain in the freezer.

In Whirlpool model ET21UM, the condensation drain hole is located directly behind the freezer. To access the drain hole, remove all your frozen items and place them in a large picnic cooler. Notice that the floor of the freezer is basically a large plastic tray fastened by two small bolts. Unscrew the bolts with a wrench or ratchet and remove the plastic tray. At this point you will probably see that water has seeped under the tray and created a mini ice rink on the bottom of your freezer. You can tap the ice lightly with the handle of a screwdriver to break it up. Once it's broken, toss the ice into your sink, or put it in a plastic bag and store into your cooler to keep everything cold.

Once the ice has been removed from the freezer floor, you should be able to see a metal drip trough in the back under a false wall hiding the condenser coils. It's a little tougher to remove the ice from the drip trough with the screwdriver method, so you might want to use a hair dryer. After a few minutes with the hair dryer, you should be able to remove most of the ice by hand. You can remove any water with a sponge or turkey baster. The only ice left will be a plug of ice in the drain hole in the middle of the drip trough. Heat up a cup of water in the microwave and carefully pour it into the drip trough. If the drip trough is hard to access, you might need to use a funnel. The hot water should melt most of the ice in the drain hole. If it pools in the drip trough and doesn't drain, use a sponge or turkey baster to remove the water and add hot water again. A small length of wire or a pipe cleaner might help clear any other obstruction in the drain hole. When the drain is clear you should hear water flowing through it. Dry off the floor of the freezer and return the plastic floor tray to it's spot and fasten with the two bolts. Remove any water that has pooled in your refigerator and you're done.
