Psp turns on and off

My son's psp turns on and off by itself. We took the battery out and just left it plugged in. It is still turning on and off by itself. Also, the power light is orange. We also took out the memory card.

If it is bricked how can I fix it if it doesn't turn on.

sounds like he was trying to install CFW. try pressing the right or left paddle switch and keep it pressed, while the psp is switched on and see if it pops up with a menu. Also ask your son for the name of the file he used to upgrade the psp. Then reply here with your answer

My son took it upon himself to upgrade his game system from a website on the internet. now when he trys to turn his console on, the power light comes on but no screen and after 45 seconds shuts itself...

First I should ask what site he "updated" his PSP from? There are so many hack sites that claim free this or that and really can mess things up. What update did he perform? From where? Writing some things can cause a PSP to Brick. Which is in a sense a hard drive crash. Also how one downloads can as well. There are some fuse inside on the main board as well that can go bad. My gut tells me the download went bad and it bricked but I will wait to hear back on my questions.
  • Try this -
  • Remove the battery completely and let the unit power down. Now plug in the AC adapter and turn the unit on leaving the battery out. Do things function normally?
  • Try a hard boot by holding the power button down for 10 full seconds.

My sons psp keeps turning itself off in the middle of a game

Check the status light before it turn off next time. Maybe a bad power cell in the battery. Shouldn't have problems with a new battery. Not anything that you can fix. all batteries can go bad at anytime.

PLEASE DON"T FORGET TO VOTE. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK.

Sony psp problem

Remove the battery for 15 minutes, connect the AC Adapter and install the battery again.
It that doesn't work, remove the battery again, wait 15 minutes, install it and plug the AC Adapter.
It's a weird problem but in my PSP i get around that way.

PSP Won't turn on

Try this>

Start with the PSP turned off. Press and hold the R button when your turning on the power. Turn it off again, then back on. Sometimes this works. If not, your PSP is probably Bricked.
This means that you done something to interupt an upload or program in progress. The eeprom program is corrupted and the PSP will not boot up. The term Bricked, refers to your PSP being no better than a black Brick paper weight. I have heard of a repair for this called Pandoras Battery. I am not sure if the Pandoras battery really works to restore Bricked PSP's. It may be worth a try for you to take a chance on Pandoras Battery.
