Hp pavilion vf51

I have a problem with a 15" flat screen vf51. There is power, the green light comes on and a message 'signal out of range'. Then power light goes orange. I can just see a faintmessage box but cant read it. This is my mums, I took it to get it fixed for her. I need to know what is wrong with it so I dont get overcharged. Can anyone help please. How much should I expect to spend? If it is the lamp or bulb? If it is Inverter circuit? If it is a video circuit?

It is the inverter board that is causing the screen to be feint. But is was the video resoloution being set too high that made it give the "out of range" message.
It's not easy to get anywhere to repair LCD monitors, and the prices could be well out of scope to bother with the repair.
Having said that, you can now call a few TV repair centres close to you and ask for a quote based on repairing the inverter circuit.
Hope that helps =)

Fixing 'Out of range', 'Format not supported' message

When the video card signal exceeds the frequency allowed for the monitor, the following error message may occur:
Sync out of Range, Out of range, Format not supported
SOLUTION (FROM HP):
To avoid the message, lower the resolution or vertical frequency of the video card.
Reboot the system and use the VGA mode to force the video card driver to lower its resolution. Follow these steps.
1. Shut down and restart the system.
For consumer systems such as HP Pavilion desktop PCs, push the Power button once.
For commercial systems such as HP business desktop PCs, hold down the Power button for five seconds.
2. Immediately after seeing the HP/Compaq logo screen, press F8 at system startup to initiate the bootup menu.
3. Scroll down to highlight Enable VGA Mode , and press ENTER .
4. After Microsoft Windows completes its bootup process, access the Display Properties and select a desired resolution, which is compatible to the connected monitor. Reboot

I plugged in my tower and i heard a loud high pitch beeping sound the green led light in the back was on but the power button turns green and the green led light in the back turned off there is no signal...

the green led light is it beside the network cable connector. if it is so, then it is always meant to be like that when you power up your computer. it is not something serious and it is normal.

I have a HPvs17 flat screen monitor connected to a hp pavilion a520n. How do I turn on the speakers?

jcdiekfuss, First verify that you have audio signal coming out of the light-green audio-out "jack on the PC!! Use an external pair of "wall-wart" powered speakers to verify. Notify me of result. You can also try to "feed" low-level audio from a radio or CD player "ear-bud" jack to the LCD monitor's audio input jack for testing purposes. Good luck. 12fixlouie

HPL1506 The input signal from pc display foe few seconds and goes off error recommended setting - 1024 x 768 - 60Hz

It can be that your PC video resolution is set higher than 1024 x 768 @60Hz for the monitor to display correctly.

Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message about No Signal, Signal out of Range, Sleep, or Power Save

You monitor can't pick the signal from the output video card, you need to remove the VGA cable and again put it back, but make sure that your PC isn't power on. After you have done this, reboot the system. You'll see that there is no more problem with the display. Sometimes this problem is caused by CPU overclocking, if the problem still persists, remove the BIOS battery and leave it outside for at least five minutes and put it back. That'll solve all the problems related to display. Good luck...
