Chirping is almost always caused by the HOT transistor and Flyback transformer. You can get the Flyback with HOT repair kit for your model from www.tvrepairworld.com they are listed under the RCA Repair kits.

SOURCE: Please Help!

A chirping sound from a TV set is the switch mode power supply trying to start up, but gets shut down because of a major short inside the set or in one of the circuits.. Most likly in this set, the horizontal output transistor is shorted because of a defective flyback transformer. Thats whats the common problem is with this set. A repair like this, if this is the only parts that are bad, will run you about 300 to 400 bucks or so. In some cases, not many but a few times, I have seen poor solder connections on L401 cause the horizontal output transistor to go bad. There are no user replacable parts inside this set, so please play it safe and seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. Good luck PS Please do not forget to rate this thread.

SOURCE: No picture or sound - TV makes chirping noise

The chirping sound is the power supply trying to come up, but can't due to a short or other condition. Open up the set and see if there is any obviously bad (burned) components.

the set probably has lots of bad solder connection on the flyback and in the horizontal deflection circuit.

Without examing the set. IN general as a techs when they hear chirping noise is an indication of what is know as a Bad Flyback transformer; You may possibly have a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor or both that will need replaceing.

Black screen and chirping sound

Typically, the driver circuit is affected when the flyback transformer "dies". The most common device that fails with it is the deflection transistor/driver and associated components. Hope this helps...accordianman

Right in front of the flyback, on a metal heatsink, you will see a transistor. This is the Horizontal out transistor ans is probably shorted. Look at number on the front of the transistor for ordering. It will be 2SC5148, 2SD1878, or something like that.
Make sure the unit is unplugged while working on it

No picture, no sound, just chirping noise coming from back

NO - - signal did nothing to the set... Sounds like a shorted HOT (horizontal output transistor) and the feedback your hearing (chirp) is on the horz. transformer as it tries repeatedly to startup... Don't allow it to do that for too long...

No picture or sound - TV makes chirping noise

The chirping sound is the power supply coming up then breaking down because there is a short somwhere in the high voltage. The most common fail in this area is the horizontal output is shorted ( 237470 ) but what cause this short could be simple cold solder joints or the High voltage transformer ( 239111 ) If you have noway to "ring" the flyback change both parts

RCA 52 rear projector tv makes chirpping noise wont turn on

You have a bad high voltage transformer. It is the white square device about 3inch square with large red wire coming out. Must be replaced with RCA original NO GENERIC. Also the horizontal output transistor must be checked to see if it is good. Recommend honest qualified tv repairman
