Closed Captioning I cannot figure out how to get the closed captioning on my television. I read the television manual and found nothing in reference to the television even having the option of closed captioning. I tried the remote and still found nothing... of course through my dvd player I am able to program closed captioning but not when I am watching regular t.v. It's not even two years old. Help me please...thank you.

I have a Symphonic 13" TV and while I can pull up the Menu showing closed captioning I still can't get it.

The menu shows C1-C2-T1-T2 but how do I know what to do now.

Thanks for anyone that can solve this problem. You are appreciated.

Cant find closed captioning

No. There is no code for too turm closed captioning ON/OFF. If your remote control have a "CC" button, pressing it once must eliminate closed cption window. If there is no such button, you have to get into TVs menu option to turn it OFF.
For more details, refer to TVs' user manual.

How to get rid of closed captioning

If pressing the cc button on the Sharp remote does not turn off the closed captioning then the closed captioning is most likely coming from the cable box or whatever you have connected to this television. You can go into the cable box menu by pressing the menu button on the front when it is turned off. That's right turn off the cable box and then press menu on it to access the hidden menu that includes closed captioning. Scroll down to closed captioning and scroll over to disable. A number of other Directv receivers have the CC located on a "captioning" tab on the "display" page under setup and for dish network:
Setting Closed Captioning:
  1. Press and release the MENU button and then select "Preferences."
  2. Select "Closed Caption."
  3. Select "Caption On/Off."
  4. Select "CC is On."
  5. Select "Done."

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.

How to activate "closed captioning" for a Proscan Full HD 1080P

Comcast's remote has nothing to do with closed captioning. It's on your tv remote. First, the tv has to be capable of handling closed captioning, and your's is- and second, the program must have closed captioning provided- current programs do, some older shows do not support closed captioning. Recheck your remote, and if necessary- look at the setup instructions that came with the TV- they should also be posted online at the Proscan support site.

Toshiba 62hx94 cant shut off closed caption have comcast cable How do I turn off closed caption on my TV. It suddenly turned on. can' turn off closed captioning 20" ws

The problem was with the Motorfolla Comcast cable box not my T.V. . I turned off my Comcast cable box, pressed menu on the remote to the cable box. This made a 16:9 ratio appear on the cable box's LED read out, and a bluish screen appear on my television. One of the options on my television was to turn on and off closed captioning. Therfore, I turned off closed captioning and the problem was solved.

Closed captioning

The closed captioning decoder circuit in your TV set may not be working, or the closed captioning information from the station may not be present. Start investigating by finding out if there is actualy closed caption from the station that you are tuned in to. If so, then call the tech support for your set to know if there is something that you missed in the set-up for the closed captioning. It may be very simple. If all of this does not work, then the closed captioning decoder in the set may not be working properly and require service.

Closed captioning

I had the same problem. My DVD player was connected to my HD TV via a HDMI cable as was recommended by the DVD owner's manual. I removed the HDMI cable and attached the three video component cables. Bingo, closed caption crossed immediately.
