Belt Replacement I need to replace the drive belt on my Amana LW2300 washing machine. The belt was broke and off of the pulleys when I took the front of the washer off. I need to know which pulleys the belt goes around and in what order. Can you tell me the easiest way of achieving that. Will I have to remove the pump belt to get the drive belt on a pulley. I can't seem to find a maunual that has a picture of the pulleys and belts.

SOURCE: amana dlw330 washer belt urned & broke again

Had the same problem on a machine I worked on. Changed the belt... was burnt and broken. Second time I replaced the belt, I ran it through all of the cycles and listened to it on SPIN cycle.. Although it's spinning.. it's making an extremely LOUD noise... It's the Spin bearing that is gone out. When a load is put in, and in spin cycle, the bearing is oveloaded..(being dry).. and putting extreme pressure on the motor and belt. When the drum reaches a point where the bearing just won't spin, the belt stops, and spins on the motor pulley, wearing it through.. (And smoking a great deal).. until it breaks.. again. I believe the top "Spin bearing" is about 75.00 or so.. and a BEAR to replace. Hope this helps

I don't know how to get the belt on the small pulley

If the design of this unit is the water pump is in the front directly below the motor, you have to install one of the pump plastic legs between the belt. when installing new belt. There are torex screws holding the pump onto the motor. This is assuming your belt burnt off or broke and you are replacing the belt. The small idler pulley can be worked on by running the belt on the big pulley when reinstalling the motor Try not to stretch the spring for the idler pulley,
hope this helps

Install belt on Amana top load washing machine

Use the correct sized belt!!

Loosen the Motor mounting Bolts. ( Do not take it off ) Now the motor assembly can be moved towards the opposite large pulley.

Replace the belt in this position and slide the motor to it's original position. You adjust it in such away so that, the belt is not too tight or loose!

well if hte washer belt is "burning off"" that tells me the motor is trying to spin at full speed buthte transmision pulley is holding it back, can be a few issues, either the brake is notreleasing correctly or, the transmission is locking up .

Washer belt

To replace the belt on your Amana washer, pull the unit forward then tilt the top of it back to about a 45 degree angle. Once you get the right angle, the unit will rest against the wall behind it instead of falling forward. Take your new belt (availble through local appliance parts stores or on line from the manufactures web site) and first put it in the track around the large pulley, then the track on the smaller pulley on the right. Lastly, the pulley on your left should be moveable. Move the final pulley so that you can get the belt over it. It will then move back to a tensioning position.

Changing belt on washing machine, that broke

to change the belt you need to remove the pump attatched to the motor. the pump is held on by either spring clamps or in older models, torx (star) screws. I believe the size for the torx screws is #20. slip the belt over the motor pulley and around the tension pulley and finally around the transmission. reinstall the pump and you're good to go.
