Hi,

The yellow wire must be directly connected to an always ON B+12 such as the + terminal of the battery. This wire is responsible for providing power to the memory.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Radio and clock memory goes when engine is switched off

The radio was installed incorrectly or the memory wire has somehow been disconnected. The memory wire is the one which is connected to a permanent 12v feed even when the ignition is turned off.

The permanent feed is usually red, the memory feed is usually yellow (and a poor/lazy fitter may have piggy-backed it onto the red wire). Just connect the yellow to a fused permanent 12v source:either direct to the battery/starter motor terminal, or you can find others attached to the hazard flashers and often to the brake light switch on the pedal assembly.

Do yourself a big favour when doing the job and avoid clip on Scotchlok wiring connectors: they're a constant source of faults and no substitute for proper crimp-on bullet/spade connectors.

Radio stations fuzzy and not coming in anymore - Sony CDX-GT310

Could be a bad connection in between radio and antenna . Check that first . If that doesn't work try a film strip antenna

Here is the schematic you need.

I would advise buying the aftermarket wiring harness female/male so you can just plug it in.

Storing channels and time display

* Connect Yellow wire to continues power ( it is back-up power to memory circuit)
* Connect Red wire to switched power

Sony CDX-GT310. Installed by Circuit City about 15 months ago. CD works fine. No sound from radio (both AM & FM). I've manually tuned through the range of stations with no reception. Checked...

Called a shop in VA and their opinion was that the tuner section of the unit failed. Cost of the part, $80. Then, labor and shipping. I can buy the new model (GT320) for about $95. I opted for buying a new unit.
