My plasma tv has 1 2" black line that runs down the center of the screen. Does anyone know why this is happening and how i may be able to get if fixed.
Thank you.
I have a Sony 40" LCD with a line down the middle of the screen. It started at the top with a length of about 5". Gradually it has grown to the bottom of the screen. How can I repair this?

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down
screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in
view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have
you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead
from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is
completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i
think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up
.good luck hope it works

NOT DEFECTIVE!!! There are 4 or 5 ribbon cables on the bottom or on one side, they control part of the plasma screen. Check the ribbon cablenear the black lines. Unplug the ribbon cable and look for black chipson the underside of it, I think they say 100 on them, you need toresolder both ends on each chip. Should fix the black line issue.
It is possible the connector to from the address board to the screen may be need to be cleaned & re-seated, but almost 99% of the time this fault is a problem within the plasma screen & the only solution is for a replacement screen.
The matrix controler or the matrix drive area is failing. The fix is to change the proper circuit boards, and then do the factory setup to match the board is necessary. In the worse case, it may be the display screen itself that has a failure occuring.
You will have to bring the set for factory service to have the work done. If the set is out of warranty, it may be expensive to service.
this tv fail from loose ribon cable plug, but I dont recomend you to work with it, becouse you cand spoil and easy job for the tech, and will cost you more, so get a tech, will be better...good luck
