If you are using a box unplug it and plug it back to let it boot up--if not have them back to verify the hookup etc is correct---they should without being asked also swap the box if used for another box.
Please read all before starting! I'm a woman too. The first thing you have to do when your tv no longer has a picture is to determine whether or not the television needs to be repaired. The way to determine this is to perform some troubleshooting. The easiest thing to do is to turn the television on and turn the volume up and down on the television remote while looking at the screen. Do you see the volume bar going up and down as usual? Or is the volume of the tv set going up and down, and you can hear the volume increasing and decreasing but you cannot see any volume bar as usual? Also you can press the menu or display or info button (whichever of these your television remote has) and see if any writing whatsoever appears on the screen. I am asking you to use your television remote at this point, which is the one that came in the box with your television (not your converter box or cable box or satellite tv receiver or surround sound remote--I am speaking of your actual television remote).
I do understand that some people don't use their television remotes and disregard them putting them in a drawer or somewhere else and can't get to them. So if that's the case you can use the buttons on your television itself. There should be a volume up and a volume down button but DON'T push the channel buttons or the source/input button.
Ok if you see the volume bar going up and down or some menu or display information that is good. That means the television is ok (most likely). Then the problem would be with the stuff that you've got connected to your television or with the stuff you're connecting it with. Just try connecting something else to your television with the same cables, and then if there is no picture with new stuff connected try connecting the new stuff with a new cable. Remember that when you are connecting stuff to a television you have to select a corresponding input/source on the television in order to view it. The back of the television is labeled. If you plug something into video 2 or input 1 then you have to select that on your source/input button on your tv remote or tv panel.
If you isolate your problem to your cable box or satellite receiver or your cable service then you can contact the cable company or satellite company directly. Your box may need to be rebooted or replaced by them. It might also be a setting in the box. If you can do some of the troubleshooting and get back to me I can help you further when something has been ruled out or a problem has been isolated.
The easiest solution is to replace the box. Otherwise, you can try leaving the unit unplugged for a day or more to drain the power and ideally reset the box.
Check the TV to see if it has a ZOOM / WIDE option or control for adjusting the aspect ratio; if so, try setting it toNORMAL .
NOTES:
If there is a SCREEN MODE button on the TV remote control, you can press this button until NORMAL is selected.
If using a cable/satellite set-top box, DVD player or digital video recorder, check the device for aspect ratio controls and try selecting a different display option.
Was exactly what you said. The cable box settings were in wide mode. Couldn't figure it out at all. Funny thing was too.. on my cable box remote, the button under the #9 button is the # button.. it doesn't say zoom at all.. but it totally controls the zoom.
So thanks for that.. AND thanks for saying "under the #9 on the cable remote" instead of just saying .. the zoom button.
If this only happens with your cable or satellite box this may be an adjustment in your box. So you may need to contact them and find out how to adjust the picture size. This tv may have a wide mode setting on the tv remote. Pushing this button may select full, wide, wide zoom or normal size. On many occasions the tv stations control the picture size. Good Luck
Yes you can. This TV has both VGA-In and component in support. The only thing you need to change is the input you're using with your remote control. As easy as changing the channel!
My sony HD TV started automatically flipping to the memory stick screen by itself. I thought maybe the remote was malfunctioning so I took the batteries out of the tv's remote as well as the cable boxes remote. Still does it. If I hit the memory stick button on the remote to switch off the screen sometimes it goes back to TV screen and sometimes it doesn't. Eventually, it flips back to the memory stick screen. Is this a known problem for this TV?
your problem in system control section
check aft &tuning ckt &its voltages
check for loose contact in above ckt
check tuner
thanks
