I have the same blue haze problem. Sent an email to Sobelsohn, the attorney, but haven't heard back. Anyone have any success reaching this person regarding the class action lawsuit? Anyone come up with any solutions yet?

Mine started to do this now. Mid screen blue haze, seems to move / get larger at times.

We have the same problem that appeared today

  • renemoe3 Mar 10, 2009

I have the same issue, a small green cloud appeared on the screen and now it takes up the entire screen - does anyone know how to fix it or atleast a ballpark range on the cost to have it repaired?

    Thanks!

Same problem. Following advice from this site (thank you) I found their web-site.
I called 877-625-9449 from the contact information on their site.

I was transferred to the dept dealing specifically with this problem. Within a week they had someone come to my house & replace the light engine, free of charge.

Lamp indicator came on so I replaced the projection lamp but the light stays on. About a week later the operation Indicator flashes when I tried to turn the set on. Light keeps flashing but no picture or sound. Also were can I get a repair manual? Many years ago I took the bell and howell tv course and still have equipment for repair! Is there a SAMS, I could not find one on line.

There is a small filter on the back of your tv...open door...take out and wash, dry and put back in...It may be too dirty to correct the problem...I had to have mine serviced, now I keep it clean.

I have a blue haze across the bottom of the tv screen. About 1 1/2 inches tall. what causes this?

Go to the Zenith repair site. This has been resolved in a lawsuit. Zenith will fix it free of charge through 7/1/2010. The shop just picked my up to replace the light engine free of charge. Call 1-800-228-1757, have your model number and serial number, and where you purchased it. Here's the neat thing-the question I asked is "have they fixed the problem with the light engine, or is it going to keep going bad?" If happens again (blue lines/spots) before 7/1/2010, they'll replace the TV with a new and different TV of equal value!

Zenith 44" LCD TV

The yellow spot is due to the BLUE LCD and/or lens assy cracked, reason, to much HEAT! The blue is the darkest color and hold the most heat, so it goes first, always! In some cases it’s only the lens, however most of the time LCD is damage to. Parts are available, however install and alignment is timely. Quick fix is the complete light engine, which for model# E44W46LCD is part# 3141VSN916C, which customer cost is $1,449.27, wholesale for about $1,065.21. Rebuilt, if you can find it around 850.00 to 950.00. However the rebuilt does not always look as good as factory. My advice, TRASH set. This part will fail again in about 3 to 4 years, unless you watch a lot of white video. Remember, on a black or dark picture, all three LCD are blocking 100% of the light, causing extreme heat within the light engine. It’s a bad design.

BRIGTHNESS TO LOW

Light in wrong, however I wouldn't waste the money on this unit. Light engine will fail in 3 to 4 years and show a yellow spot at first.

Blue spot in tv

The blue spot on this is dust on the blue lcd lens. You can not get this off of your lens and you would need to replace the optical engine. Part for this is about 800 dollars and that particular set has to be dismantled from the front. It is a optical engine that takes a little while to do 1+hour and I do these repairs all of the time.

Good luck on your decision

Blue cloud on screen

Optics block or "light engine".. lots of $$. LCD filters have warped due to clogging of intake air filter resulting in overheating. The area in question is nicknamed "the cube" and is actually NLA for some brands.
