I recommend that you clean the battery first before putting it inside the camera

Had same problem, took camera to a fixit shop but but they couldn't fix it but informed me that battery was charged up.Since it was no good as it was, decided to have a go myself and take the camera apart. There are 6 very small phillips head screws which need a very small screw driver to undo, (dont start until you have the right tool) after removing the screws I very gently prised the front of the camera off by working around the cover until the front was removed. This allowed me to examine the 3 spring terminals which come into contact with the battery. When i placed the battery into its contact position I could see that the terminals were not level and that one of them was not making contact with the battery. Using a small pair of watchmakers pliers I straightened the terminals to the same height and in a straight line, I also pressed the base of the terminals to ensure a good connection in case the wiring underneath was a dry connection. Finally I satisfied my self that the each of terminals connected with the battery when it was in the down position. There is a small coiled spring which makes the battery pop up, if this came lose during repairing, ensure that this is secured in the right position before reassembling.
After all this I was so relieved when everything started working and the camera is as good as ever.

Clean the battery contacts. All batteries give out fumes and coat the contacts. Never leave batteries in the camera when you stop using it.

Why will the camera power on when plugged in, but will not power on when useing batteries?, the batteries are new

Batteries are new but are you sure that they are good? Did you test them for voltage and amperage? Weak batteries will often not work in older digital cameras because they needs lots of power from good, strong battery.

My video camera (SDR-H18) wont charge...the battery lights up when charging but when i put it in the camera the camera wont turn on...whats the problem?

It sounds like a bad battery. If you have another battery, or a direct power plug for the camera, try those to determine if the camera itself functions. If so, you can safely assume the battery is the problem. If the power plug works but not a different battery, you may have dirty or corroded contacts where the battery attaches to the camera. If changing the battery works, the old one should be returned if under warranty, recycled if not, or you could leave it on the charger for several hours to see if it can complete a charge at all. If not, get a new battery.

NIKON D70 Camera not working after battery change

You may just have two bad batteries, or maybe your charger is bad.

You should have a DC power adapter with the camera, plug that in and see if the camera works longer with it.

You should also have an adapter to use CR02 batteries with the camera. You can buy three of the CR02 batteries at the drugstore (they are NOT rechargeable) and see if the camera works.

If any of these things work, you have bad batterie.

If they don't work, then there is likely some kind of short in the camera and you will need to send it to a service `center or your local camera shop. You might also just take it there and see if they have a known good D70 battery they could try for you.

PROBLEM WITH PENTAX OPTIO E10

It could be that the battery can't hold a charge anymore.

You will probably have to get a new battery.

Make sure the camera is working fine and that youre able to take pictures with the power cord plug in. If that works it isn't the camera, it's the battery.

Power cord and battery's support NO power to Video Camera

This incident happens often and damages the camcorder's power board. Replacing power board and some adjustment should resolved the problem. Your cost may run from $175-$225 in US for this model. Whenever you are transfering and connecting to pc, it is recommended to connect AC adapter power for this. Do not rely on a charged battery. Good luck.

Overseas Use

Yes. The power supplies and battery chargers supplied with all Powershot Digital Cameras are designed to work on input voltages from 100-240 volts (50/60 Hz). The only item that you may need is a plug adapter that allows you to plug the U.S. type power supply or battery charger into the foreign type wall outlet. Plug adapters should be easily available at a local electronics store.
