if it runs ok ON AC pack but not the battery installed the BATTERY is no good now,as all are, this old. if that old.
this PC is 8 years old today. so if the battery is that old there is no hope for any battery that old, buy a new battery
or take it out and run on AC pack forever, as many do .
in fact take that old battery out of PC they like to short and catch fire.
take it to the battery recycle center, watch them duck as the see its age (LOL) the new batteries have fuse that blows, preventing most fires,. (now) I bet flight ML370 was lost do to this reason.
(pallets full of this, failed) sorry I digress... but sad story, there. RIP

Try this trick. Pull battery and put camera in a zip lock bag and into freezer overnight. Take out and install charged battery and see if there is any change. This worked with a Go-pro I had, unbelievable! Capacitors get old and dry out and these sometimes affect the charge circuit as well as batteries getting old too. Li-po batteries (yours) get old if you use them or not so it may just be an expired battery.

Check polarity of old battery first.
Write this down.
Remove old battery.
Take old battery in to shop that sells new batteries.
Take new battery home.
Remove from packaging.
Refer to note you made of polarity.
Install new battery.
If it works, dump old battery.

Li ion batteries are more temperamental than Nicads They could be bad.

Battery Replacement Instructions

1. Turn over the scale and open the battery door. (Push ribbed switch and pull up)
2. Replace old batteries with two new 3V Lithium batteries (CR2032).
3. Close battery door.
4. Properly dispose of old batteries.

There is nothing holding the batteries in place once the battery door is opened. If the batteries are difficult to remove, use a small screwdriver to gently pry up on the battery or simply after opening battery door invert the scale and shake.

mcdevito75 here, One year old, most likely the factory Battery and at 1 year old the battery is old, who knows how long the battery was in the watch before you bought it 1 year ago?? The battery is the first suspect. Look for a small watch repair shop in your area for a new battery first.

swapped battery old for old or old for new? new is best or none.
a 2005 PC, no battery lasted 12 years. period. did not.
and runs only windows XP the virus magnet, (a true horror)
does PC run on AC power pack with no huge battery , ?
if NO then the power pack is bad.
if yes then the BATTERY is shorted, as all can do this old and are danger to you and others with old batteries we all know loved to catch fire back then (MH370 i bet is battery crates burned) RIP all. !!!

also new batteries, real new not NOS, new old stock
have new features that do no catch fire. fuse inside and more.
do not harbor 2005 batteries of any kind like this at home.
