I have a SONY home theater system, HT-C800DP, there is a crackling sound when playing DVDs - it is almost as if the unit overheats. Is there any solution to this? Sometimes I cannot even finish a DVD as the noise gets very loud.

If you are trying to play a cd, you must manually tell the unit to play it in surround sound. Cd audio defaults to stereo only. Does it do the same thing if you are playing a dvd? If it happens on dvd's as well, then something in the speaker setup menu is wrong.
I am having Sony HTD-C800DP Home Theatre system. I would like to know how to play DIVIX DVDs. I couldnt successful. Any one of you please help me in this. Kindly send information to my e-mail id [email protected]
your reciver probabily wont pass progressive through it, Hook the audio from the box to your reciever, and the video directily to your tv, thats a better way to do it anyway, your tv has alot better video prossesor than your reciver , or hook both audio and video to your tv, and run audio output from your tv to the reciver
