Perhaps this: the scanner calibrates itself on a white strip above the
place where the lamp is in rest. When there is a spot on that white
strip, the scanner wil use the retreived information for the whole
scan, resulting in a line on your scan.

You have done most of the required DIY but I feel that two more things can be tried out. First of all you can reinstall after removing the sofware from your PC. there after connect the C45 and try to see if the fault changes. If not we have to suspect the head and since you had tried the maintenance and head cleaning which is inbuild in this model . You will have to think of the cost of an head assembly to the cost of a new model of epson. If not try to use it printiing all your documents till the ink runs out and decide. Hope my advice helps. Good day
Are your alignment tests show good results? If they are, try head cleaning 3 consecutive times without printing nozzle checks. After 3 head cleanings do the nozzle check. If problem persists try printing at BEST PHOTO or whatever is the slowest print setting for your printer. Good luck!
Maintenance and press OK
Nozzle Check and press OK
the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines
there are no gaps, the print head is clean and you can continue printing If
there are gaps or the pattern is faint, clean the print head
I find the best way to clean the heads is buy some cleaning cartridges as they have cleaning fluid in them and use them to clean it will take about 10 or more times to clean the heads then put the color ones back in and try again.
Just keep putting it on clean the head don't do a print out till at lest you have cleaned 10 or more times.
I had this trouble, went through cleaning & realignment, then various print options. What i found was that dark colours had faint dark horizontal lines 5mm apart when printing on Photo in the epson driver. Changing it to Best Photo solved it.
Go to control panel and printers and faxes and right click on printer icon then hit printing preferences, go to maintenance and do head cleaning cyles and print nozzle check. if it comes out fine trash and reinstall driver download driver from support.epson.com site after selecting the printer mdel on the lists
