Question about Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo messenger unable to detect internet connection when signing in

Whenever i try to sign into yahoo messenger a window pops up and says it could not detect an internet connection. I can access internet sites but for some reason messenger canoot access the internet. I hit the troubleshooting button and it states to check proxy setting but i am lan and when i check they are all correct.

Check the proxy settings inside of Yahoo messenger. It may vary by version, but it should be similar to: http://help.yahoo.com/l/e1/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/notices/ms9taconproxyserver.html

Also make sure that your not behind a firewall or personal firewall that is blocking the port 5050 outbound.

The issue you have seems to be because of unstable internet connection.

Also, I would suggest you to upgrade the version of the yahoo messenger.

If you are talking about error 81003004... just go to the icon "messenger" and then click "connection preference". Click the "connect directly to the internet" click this even though it is highlighted and then click apply and then OK. Hope this help for you.

Yahoo Messenger can't sign in - Unable to Connect to Yahoo Messenger

If you are having trouble signing into Yahoo Messenger you should read this article for some Tips and Tricks to get signed in.

There are a couple of things you will want to check first as they are common causes for being unable to sign in.

1) Make sure your internet is working. The easiest way to do this is by trying to visit other websites. After you have tried to visit some websites(it is best to test sites you have never been to before) and you confirm your internet is working but still unable to sign in, then continue to the other tips.

If you can't connect to other websites, you can read my tech article on Resolving Internet Connectivity Issues - "Can't connect to the Internet"

2) Sometimes, Yahoo Messenger will be down completely for everybody on a global level. This can be caused by problems Yahoo may be having or just general technical maintenance. Your only option if this is the case is to wait until it is over. You can confirm the Yahoo Messenger status at the Yahoo Messenger Support page.

If none of the above are the issue then continue below with Advanced steps
1) This tip is a recommendation from Yahoo Tech Support

1. Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."
2. Enable the "Firewall with no proxies" option.
3. Select the correct Internet connection type and country from the pull-down menus.
4. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.
5. Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the "OK" button.
6. Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

The above configuration works in most situations. (However, if you connect in this way, you won't be able to use the Voice feature.) If this configuration doesn't work, follow these steps:

1. Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."
2. Enable the "No network detection" option and then click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

2) In some cases you may have a local firewall or anti virus program that is blocking Yahoo Messenger or causing connectivity issues with it. You can try to disable any Firewalls you have and Anti Virus programs and see if you can now sign in. If so, then you will probably need to add exceptions in your firewall or anti virus program to allow Yahoo Messenger. If you need assistance with this step you will need to reach out directly to the company that makes the software. A google search by the application name or company name will bring you to the website where you can find help and contact information.

3) I have worked in Technical Support for many years and a simple but often overlooked step that works is to unistall or reinstall the program. There can be any number of causes for Yahoo Messenger program files to be corrupted or lost. A simple reinstall of Yahoo Messenger can get you back up and running. The best way to do this is through Control Panel in Windows.
-Go to Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs and find Yahoo Messenger in the program list.
-Click unistall and once removed go ahead and reboot your computer.
-Once rebooted, download Yahoo Messenger and install. Click here for the files.
-Once installed, reboot your computer again.
-Once rebooted try to launch Messenger and see if you can sign in.

I kept having the same problems with YM. Every time i tried to sign in, it won't let me sign in. it's about yahoo! messenger troubleshooter and It said " We can't let you sign in". I am sure it was not...

check your internet connection is it respond automatically send and recieved internet connection.reboot pc try to sign in your yahoo id if not configure yahoo messenger click messenger then preferences connection choice there option

what problem you are getting when you login? you can try this- delete all your temporary internet files, delete cookies, run any registry cleaner program may your problem will solve.

I try to connect to yahoo messenger and I get a message that says there might be a problem with your internet connection, i run the trouble shooter in this message and it says possible problem with http...

Right click on your internet connection logo (2 blue monitor screens) in the System Tray and select "Diagnose and Repair"
No Problem? proceed.
Internet Explorer is used to sign into Yahoo Messenger. If you have another browser set as default IE will still sit as a link between your browser and Yahoo Messenger. For this reason most troubleshooting is concentrated on Internet Explorer.

Try each of these in turn, and try to sign in after each of them - if successful (or not) please feed back information to help others.

1) I would recommend installing the latest version of IE and update any support software (Flashplayer, Java, Shockwaveplayer) for IE by using an update checker

2) Start with a clean browser
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times,using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.

3) On the sign in page click 'Messenger' > Connection Preference
Toggle between 'Connect direct to the internet' and 'Proxy setting' make sure the information is correct in the lower 2 boxes. I am currently in the Asia Pacific region and I have to toggle between these settings a few times a week to maintain my connection
4) Check these settings in IE (even if you have another browser set as default)
a) Tools > Internet options > Connections > Lan settings > check 'Automatically detect settings - uncheck other options.
b) Tools > work offline - make sure this is NOT checked and has a red X through it
5) Disable your firewall and do a trial sign in
6) Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings-uncheck Proxy server and check automatically detect setting
7) Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > dial-up and virtual private Network setting > select your default connection > setting > check automatically detect setting
8)If you are unable to sign into this secure page (https)

copy the yahoo https address above and paste it in here:-
IE > tools > internet options > LAN settings - check automatically detect settings > Advanced - paste in 'Secure' window > OK

I am unable to sign in yahoo messenger. I am using yahoo messenger 9.0 version. After signing in it says problem signing messenger, try again.

1st sorry 4 my poor English.
if you have problem to sigin Yahoo Messenger(YM) . 1st you check the internet explore(IE)is working correctly. most of the time it don't work. (but Firefox,chrome,Gtalk,etc..etc.. are works correctly)
so go to IE ->Tools->Internet options->Connections->LAN Settings-> Check Automatically Detect settings and uncheck other options (See the Screen shot below).
Now IE and YM will work fine....
