Re: microwave does not heat
What could cause this problem coud be a bad door switch, a bad HI Voltage capacitor, a bad power transformer, a bad Rectifier, a bad magnatron,or a bad circuit control board. Any one of these repairs could run from 65 to fix, all the way up to 200 bucks. You are probablt right, its time to buy a newer type with more lights, bells, and whistles. Good Luck

sounds like possible magnatron or diode thats the case its not worth repairing. but if your handy then google model nuber and get the part be extreamly careful because of the power capacitor holds extream volts. turn off and allow to sit 15min before working on
The most common causes for a lack of heating are a bad door switch, a loose connection on the magnetron, a bad magnetron, bad connection on the control circuit board, a bad relay on the board, bad high voltage diode, or bad high voltage transformer.
If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
We are the ones who repair the displays and control boards, by the way.
