PCI to USB 2.0 doesn't work

I installed the Syba SD-V2-5U PCI to USB 2.0 card on my computer and only USB 1.1 works. I installed the correct drivers and tried many different things such as disabling the windows drivers and only installing the drivers for the card. I have moved the card to different PCI slots, only to have the same results. The card works because everything I plug in works, its just really slow. Thanks you for the help!

I also have the some problem with my dell dimenison l600c.

    O.S is windows XP.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this

I have the same problem with the card installed in a HP-520w. However, I noticed that the onboard USB ports are only running at USB v1.x as well and continue to do so even now that I've removed the board. I suspect a BIOS problem with my computer that is affecting both.

SOURCE: XP won't boot with NEC SD-V2-5U USB card installed

Have you tried moving the card to a different slot? The motherboard BIOS and/or the operating system may be trying to assign an interrupt that cannot be shared--especially if you have the card installed in the slot next to the video card (or shared with the onboard video).

Try driver download from her http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/USB-3.0/Cards/2-Port-PCI-SuperSpeed-USB-3-Adapter-Card-with-SATA-Power~PCIUSB3S22

Although I dont understand your statement " will not read a card reader" since you state a problem with the Syba Infozone cable.
Is the problen your USB 3 port or the Syba cable.

I installed this card and still have no USB 2.0. I think I need a driver. XP did find the card and installed it. It works, just not high speed.

Speed depends not only on USB adapter but also on the device you plug in. In general, if you can copy to thumbdrive at 5Mbytes/sec than it's USB 2.0

Usb 2 card is only working at low speed after reinstalling windows xp. How can I get it to go to high speed? NEC 4 Port USB 2.0 PCI Controller Card

Make sure that you have the proper driver installed for your USB interface. Your motherboard should have come with a CD, or you can go to the motherboard manufacturers website and download the latest chipset drivers.

Once they are downloaded, install them and re-start your PC. Windows XP will then recognize a whole set of new components and allow your card to run at higher speeds.

You are looking for the PCI Bridge driver in particular, but I would recommend installing ALL the drivers that are available from the motherboard manufacturer.

System freeze

The issue was resolved by uninstalling SP3. I uninstalled SP3 and the USB PCI card and rebooted. When SP2 reinstalled the device it installed the corect driver (5.1.2600.2180) and everything is now functional. Have no idea why the correct driver was not in XP SP3.

USB PORT 2.0 INSTALL

what OS,? was it internet connected during all that? it must.

If XP its now a dead OS, for 3 years, , hp nor microsoft support
XP nor does HP support old SR1430nx.(now)

you installed PCI card ,called USB, no name stated or part number
use the drivers from THEM< the maker of the card.
there are always extra cables, most are power supply cables. in DT.
A tech would look and instantly see where they go and there purpose, explaining that is long long story.
my guess is the quesiton is formed backwards. lite me guess
Running XP "need some 8gb/mp4 player working."
this is the title deal but what is it? is it an external box tghat plays, DVD or is it just a software player. name that it is more clearly, even photos work 1000x best.

you find out XP does do USB well, , sure it does it horribly
XP does not support all USB devices, (some sure) but many not.
and must have SP3 installed, good luck finding that on dead OS
and not get infected with virus, XP is a Virus Magnet.

Getting XP up on new USB devices is a chore, no/?
why not ask the maker of both the mp4 player if it supports
XP. and then ask the card maker USB if it supports XP'

sr1430 (circa 2005?) 12years old, 2 past HP support.
Pentium 4.
what make s you think, this old pc with 512mb memory and slow pc and slow video are up to the large demands of videos movies.
it's not.

the front of the case (reading old review from2005)
shows a USB 2 port.
and that is wires there that go to the motherboard, USB2 jack.
if unplugged this wire USB2 there will be dead.
the mother board has a USB chip, and port.
but needs drivers you dont have, from HP that are no longer
offered.
how to cure that, you add a new PCI card, from a maker that supports
XP, , but who does that now in 2017.
hummmmmm

"Syba SD-VIA-2UH"
here is one with the VIA chip set for USB
note how it says box has PCI card, and CD driver.
with XP accept no cards, lacking DRIVERS.
