I have a 63' Toshiba Flat screen TV about 6 years old. A few weeks ago when I tried to use it, after only a few minutes the TV turned off abruptly. The red light next to the power button began to flash. If unplugged and plugged back in, the TV turns on and off again after a few minutes. I moved it to a different outlet and it worked fine for a couple weeks. However, when I just now tried to turn it on, it does the same thing. Any ideas?

There is a large sand filled resistor on the main board close to where the power cord attaches that cracks. This will stop power until it cools enough to make the connection then heats up rapidly to open it again. It may be worth the trouble if you're handy with a soldering gun and can get the back off the TV. If not then I'd consider getting a flat screen.
Hello, if the model number is correct it's not a projection tv, but an LCD tv. If that's correct, it sounds like a bad main board issue part # is AGF31218501...thanks
Had this problem bout 2,3 years ago...it was fixed in about 5 minutes with the help of this article
Tonight I have to do this fix again..the blue lines came back about a week. http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html I strongly urge you to save the web page locally on your hard drive or print it out and place with the tv manual....
I had the same problem. It turned out that one of the cooling fans get dusty and does not work. I opened the back of the Toshiba plasma TV and cleaned the failed fan, and it worked like a champ.
