Brother EM430 white ribbon broken

Hi,

Our typewritters white ribbon is broken, this white ribbon i guess is the correction tape.
Should we take it out the white ribbon( clear one) and replace it again? I mean first we thought our ink cartige was out so we replaced it.

But still no letter shows up when we type.

also, is it possible you recommend any repair shop that we can take it if we can't fix it ourselves.

we are located in Toronto, canada( downtown area)

Thank you

saha

Do you see any impression of letters on the paper when you type? if you do the ribbon not lifting or not driving. If you do not see an impression the print hammer is not firing. try to lub it with wd40 or light Wait oil. some brother typ's have a rubber bumper under the print hammer that deteriorate & need to be replaced

Installed a corrective ribbon on a SL480 typewritter, now I can't get the ribbon back on.

Sounds like the correction tape is not installed properly. Try remving and reinstalling it again. Make sure the hammer solenoid assembly is latched to its home position. After installin the correction tape you can manually operate the lift arms to check the feeding of the tape. If you have a loca dealer you can probaly take your machine to them and they may install the tape for you at no charge.

CORRECTION TAPE

correction tapes will not work with multistrike ribbons. You have to use a correctable ribbon. If you can find a white out tape, it will work with multistrike. What model typewroter do you have?

Brother GX-6750 correctronic

Check the print wheel to see if any spokes are bent or missing, be sure that you have the proper correction tape (tack free) and that you are not in proportional space or have an international print wheel.

Brother AX-450 Electronic typewriter

Hellooo.
2 thing come to mind you may check.
First check the ribbon cartridge to see if it is empty..These are usually a one time ribbon...and has to be replaced when empty.
2nd make sure the cartridge is snapped in properly and seated, and also the printwheel lever must be snapped (pushed forward) in order for everything to be aligned. if the typewriter has a correction tape (white or clear) make sure it is not interfering with the ribbon.
Lastly the ribbon drive may be broken or out of adjustment. a minor repair.
Hope this helps...
