Button-be-dead Ok, so this might sound kind of stupid but my camera was in my purse and I didn't drop it or anything, but when I went to take it out to take pictures, the button you push to take the picture was already half down so it won't stop auto-focusing. I can't zoom in or out, look through my pictures, turn the flash off, delete pictures, or change picture styles. I know it's because of the button already being down halfway but I really need to know how to fix it and get the button back up. I Love my camera and I don't want to get a new one!!

Thanks for posting this article as I had no idea of the cause and was suspecting a firmware/software fault. I had the same problem a few days ago. As my camera was out of warranty and the advice from a salesperson in a well known chain of camera shops was to buy a new camera as the repairs would be as expensive, I decided to try and fix it myself. My, somewhat brutal, solution was to use a very thin needle to get around the side of the button and lever it back up again. I did this around the circumference so the button was level again. Since then it has been OK.
