Question about Video Cameras

How do you disassemble a Sony ccd-trv57?

Camera will not power on at all. Tape tray is stuck in the open position. All of this due to water spilled on unit! Have AC cord. Tried to power on with AC cord, but nothing lit up. Has been in box for approx. 3 yrs. Where can I download a FREE repair manual or schematic?I'm experienced in PC repair so I somewhat know what i'm doing as far as disassemble stuff.

When you have a kit of irreparable parts, sigh deeply, recycle them, replace the camcorder and vow never to spill liquid on any electrical item ever again.

Unless car is more than 10 years or so old there is no such thing as a free shop/service manual. If you spilled water on unit an did not wat about a week for it to dry out you have toasted the electronics and now that is why you get no turn on. Time to go shopping. Repair not cost effective.

I beg to differ Richie46. It is good experience to get into repairing other things besides computers. I am a computer repair tech and also repair cell phones and tablets. I am working on several different cameras all at once here. The cameras are mine and it’s good experience to learn how to take them apart and put them back together and know what each board does. The only way to learn is to replace parts one of the time until you find out what works and what doesn’t.

SOURCE: "Re-attach the power source" but tape is stuck, door open

I had the same problem. First, depress the reset button, located on the camera body (where the LCD screen closes over it). It is hard to see at first. It is important that the camera be set to the OFF position. When the camera is whirring after the reset, then hit the EJECT button so the tape comes out. Take the tape out and insert it back. That's it. My camcorder worked fine and let me record or plaback once I followed those steps.

SOURCE: Sony Handycam CCD-F77 won't power up

Sony F77's are known for bad power supply circuit boards. I have one that powers up enough to eject or insert a tape but will do nothing else. Recently I took it to a repair shop. Paid $30 to have it diagnosed but elected not to pay the extra $164-$215 to have the board rebuilt.

It is difficult to find people who will even diagnose these old camcorders, but the repairman said the shops that rebuild the boards get 10-15 a week because people really like the high quality of this particular model. I paid over $1500 for mine in 1983 or so and may yet decide to have it rebuilt.

The repair shop I took mine to is Westronix in Salem, Oregon.

SOURCE: i can't transfer my video on pc from tape. my

to transfer video from your camcorder to your pc you will need a firewire cable (ieee 1394). only with this cable you will be able to transer video.
you will also need a firewire port on your pc.
if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire pci card.

see this for info and pictures

Try using different tape or a new tape in the Camcorder.

Clean the video heads using the Sony V8-25CLD cleaning cassette.

You may also try pressing and holding the Reset button for 30 seconds to reset all the settings in the unit to the factory defaults.

Good luck!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
