Picture is VERY dark...

I received this 27" TV for free. The picture is very dark and hard to see, but you can see it - its just almost green. The sound and power are fine. Can someone please tell me whats wrong with it. :) thanks

Try adjusting the color settings. It should work and doesn't mean the picture tube is bad.

It a bad picture tube or a screen drive problem.. if your not a tech you shouldnt even take off the back of the set as to look at it. your not going to see anything wrong. Theres just too much voltage in these sets fo a do it your selfer or experimenter to be tinkering with. Good Luck

Green picture only

The projection TV has 3 guns RED GREEN BLUE. In your case the red and the blue guns are gone. So you are getting the green color screen. You got to replace the picture tube.

Picture getting dark

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.

Hardly any Blue Color in the picture. the blue tube is projecting darker and dimmer.

You need a Blue picture tube CRT you can get one for your JVC at the following link for a real decent price and they provide free shipping. Heres the link.

Dark picture

How old is the TV? More than 6-7 yrs? Then it's time to do a trade in. But if you are very attached to it, get a Technician to recondition the Picture Tube. This may give it life for another couple of years. You could also ask a technician to check the DC filter Capacitor for the HT line to the Video Drive circuits. Over time this capacitor dries out and also causes a darkening of the picture. It is normaslly a 100 mfd 160V capacitor.
