I have a SC302TB Double Oven...the doors won't close all the way and the lights stay on, if I push on them they will turn off. Is there an adjustment?

SOURCE: I have the SC272TB Double

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Yes this has been a fairly common issue with the Thermador wall ovens as well as their freestanding ranges.

Typically the remedy will be replacing the hinges, but there is a "fix" you can attempt in the interim. At least in hope of keeping the oven light from being on all the time, hence damaging the control board which houses the oven lights transformer.

The issue with those Thermador wall oven and freestanding range doors ( especially on the freestanding "professional" line ) is the weight of the door is so great, the hinge will actually move slightly over time, other times the entire hinge will need to be replaced.

This is what I'd recommend ( also official Thermador remedy, rest assured as I am a authorized factory trained Thermador service provider ) before pronouncing the hinges need replacing though.

**This does require a somewhat involved repair, so if you don't feel completely comfortable or have any reservation to trying this, please call in an local authorized Thermador ( B/S/H/ ) service provider.**

Recommendation: Adjust the door box hinge per instructions below.

1. Pull the oven away from the wall about 12".

2. Remove the hinge box cover plates.

3. Remove the vertical side trim piece. It covers one of the screws that must be loosened.

4. Loosen the 4 screws that secure the hinge box.

5. Place a rolled up dishtowel at the bottom of the door and close the door and apply light pressure to the door while re-tightening the four screws.

See fig below

6. Re-install the hinge box covers & side trims.

7. Re-install and secure the oven.

That should do it, ( or as stated, improve the situation ) if the hinges are too far gone they will need to be replaced unfortunately.

Let me know if you require further assistance or if indeed this solved your problem.

Thank you for choosing FixYa today and good luck going forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

SOURCE: Door

I had this problem with a Thermador wall oven. Two service calls later, new hinges and a new oven box and the door would still not close completely without a push. The service repairman said this was all he could do. A year later I took matters into my own hands. I found that the cabinet rails were not installed level (1/4" off)and square to the face of the cabinet. I reinstalled them level and the problem went away. You have to have the supports that the oven sits on level and square to the cabinet face. If it is not no hinge replacement or new oven box will help. To see if this is the problem pull the oven from the cabinet and put it on a table then see if the door operates correctly. If so the rails are not level and square. [email protected]

SOURCE: I have broken the outer glass on one of the doors

Yes. replacing the over door glass is no more difficult than removing a few screws, inserting the new glass and reattaching the screws.

GE JKP28 oven light is always on

It is possible the relay for the light on the control board has welded points. A door switch could be bypassing the control. keeping the light on when the door is closed. Hope this helps.

Oven door won't stay closed, light on

If the door opens past the 90 degree level position, it means you need new door hinges.

My JenAir oven door doesn't close fully

most likely you have bad door hinges if the door doesn't close correctly,i don't know if you know this but alot of parts are no loner available for this model,it must be old,the only thing you can get for the door is the hinges and that's it,you'll need the rest of the model number to get the right hinges you're missing the last two letters, you can go here put your model number in to look up parts.

Oven light will not turn off

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Does the light shut off if you push the door closed slightly ? Or if you push the door switch closed manually. It is located on the grill of the oven...i.e.

Let me know, if so the door hinge needs adjustment. If not, it may be a control issue.

I'll watch for your reply.

My Wolrd Pool Double Oven Door will not close all

same problem, I tried to adjust the level and tip the oven back, but that didn't work either.
Two options exist, change the hinges, or close the door with a hammer handle between the door and oven. Place the handle down low by hinge, then push the door closed very firmly to pull the hinge outward a bit.
