VS-45607 When we turn on the TV there are so many squiggly lines that you can't see the picture. It gets better after an hours or so but may come back again later. The TV is 7 years old. Any hope for it? LK

My rear projection tv has squiggly horizontal lines in the picture. Sometimes when I turn it off and then turn it back on it goes back to normal but it is steadily getting worse. Any suggestions would be...

I have seen this on quite a few Mits's as they are getting to that age. This is usually related to bad caps in the signal path. I could go into more detail if I knew the exact Model Number (it will start with WS or VS) Example VS-60609. But the caps are usually near the 5v regulators.

Black horizontal lines. Looks like I am looking through venetian blinds

OK this problem is caused by a failing electrolytic capacitor back in the power supply. It's job is to filter AC interfence from that voltage source. Locating the correct capacitor is something not for a do-it-yourselfer. A respectable tv shop experienced with Mitsubishi tv's can usually repair this problem in your home. Average repair cost would be between $200 and $300.

Mitsubishi VS-45607

there is a protection circut that will shut down the tv when it detects a failure in one of the components , when components heat up to much they go into thermal breakdown, the part that is heating up and failing is getting worse , so it will need to be test to determine which one

VS-45607

sounds like a defective cappacitor or leaky diode in the deflection circuits. Unless youre comfortable working around the high voltage circuits of a rear projection set, it may be best to call a reputable repair facility that is famillair with mitsubishi products.

Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Big Screen

Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Picture has horizontal lines that move to middle of screen........

Just got this fixed. The problem is the 21 (yes, 21) main capacitors. It'll only get worse if they aren't replaced. The whole screen'll start jumping, multi-hour "warm up" times until you get a clear picture, maybe not even then... it isn't pretty. Just nip it in the bud now, and more power to you if you tackle it yourself. A good repair shop ought to be able to do this for under $400 if you can't.
