SOURCE: kodak easyshare ls743. lens wont retract. camera error #E45 shows on screen. battery is fully charged.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Camera will not switch on in operate mode.

Can you test the voltage of the charged batteries, often they will not hold full charge for several reasons, age, factory imperfection, over use, haven't been allowed to discharge fully before recharge, dirty battery contacts, if you can, try new non rechargeable batteries, often cameras get temperamental about batteries after some time, use a metal tarnish cleaner with a cue tip, on the contacts, or pure alcohol, if bad, use plastic scourer, cold batteries don't work well, warm them in your hands if cold.

I haven't turned the camera on for a couple of years. I've tried charging the battery, but I can't get it to power up. Do I need to replace battery or is it something else?

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

My finepix s3400 will not turn on. I've tried almost everything and I'm really annoyed. Is there something i can do to fix it?

Mine wont turn on either, the battery is fully charged and inserted properly. I can tell this as the pre-flash light comes on but nothing else, the only way to get the pre-flash light off again is to remove the battery.

If unused for any length of time, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain a charge. Try it with a brand new, fully-charged battery. FWIW, I recharge all my camera and flashgun batteries monthly.

Even after putting a new fully charged battery camera shows battery empty

The reason you are still getting this error despite the fact that you've placed a new fully charged battery means that the battery is not compatible with the camera. The fact that it states this is because the battery isn't capable of handling the Olympus camera. I would suggest for you to buy a recommended battery pack by Olympus, or a rechargeable battery pack to avoid these errors.

You need to fully charge your battery pack. When you buy new rechargeable batteries it has low or none charge at all.

When I turn on my kodak easyshare it turns itself straight off. I have replaed the battery with a new item and recharged but to no avail.

Is the battery door of your camera not closed properly? Try holding the door firmly and cleaning the points in which the battery touches the door.
If that doesn't work, plug your camera via USB to see if it can hold a charge at all.
If your camera will not power via USB, that means that it isn't your battery that's dead or broken, but something internal that will need to be repaired by Kodak customer service.

I recharged the batteries (Ni-MH) for my Olympus Camedia 2020, but still the camera will not turn on. Do I need new batteries? Where can I buy them?

Firstly check your charger. I was having problems with my batteries packing up after about 1 hours use. Now I only charge 2 at a time (its a 4 battery charger) and the problem is no more.
There is a limited life on batteries, check how old they are and if you've had them more than 3 or 4 years, I suggest you buy replacements. John
