Where can I get a wiring diagram for whirlpool speed top 2600 electric cooktop
Bought used cooktop for replacing an existing electric cooktop. The used cooktop a whirlpool speed top 2600 came without a wiring harness. I would like to use the existing harness, but want to first review and confirm that the wiring to burners is correct and then to install wiring harness correctly. Where can I get a wiring diagram?

Sometimes if you call the manufacturer of an appliance and have your model number ready, they will email you an diagram or mail it to you. I would not tell them what you are planning on doing, simply because of them not recommending doing this they may not give you what you need. Just tell them you need a diagram thats all. I've done this in the past and it was free, just depends on the company you are dealing with. Hope this helps, good luck.

Generally there are screws around just under the lip of the top, on some models the used plugs to disconnect the power to the top. If not you will need to make a diagram or take a picture of wiring so you get it back.
always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance
SC8900EXB1 Whirlpool purchased 1999 when house was built. Electric wires to start the burners, started smoking, burnt? Shoud I replace the entire cooktop, if so need comparable system purchase and installed ASAP.
sound like you have a three wire setup on you house most commonly the black wire is the L1 wire or one of the hot wires and the red is the L2 wire and is also one of the hot wire in this instance your white wire would be your neutral/ground wire this would connect to the copper wire on your cook top depending on the model it would have a red wire a black wire and the copper wire but some may also have a white wire also if this is the case on a three wire setup you would attach the copper and white wires together also if needed you can goto the maufactures website and download an instalation guide.
Don't really need a wiring diagram, although there may be one inside switch area. (make sure to put it back again if it is there) Will need the full model number to get you the part number you need. (model number usually on a sticker near where the electrical wire enters the cook top)
Turn off power to cook top. Open cover to switches. Pull two "pilot" (usually smaller spade terminals) off the switch for the right front burner, and insulate each with a bit of electrical tape. Turn power back on to see if light now off. If yes, replace that switch. If no, replace those wires and repeat procedure with the next switch until you find the bad switch. I just looked, and there is not a wiring diagram available on the web for this unit.
I am concerned about the black with red stripe to red.
Check to see if there is a wiring diagram somewhere on the unit (there wasn't one in the installation instruction or manual for this unit.). I believe the red wire on the house side goes to the black/black wire on the cooktop side (so I believe you are correct on your concern.).
House side green should be to the coiled silver cooktop side silver wire.
