If you know how to service TV sets then you have to first determine if the problems in the HI voltage sweep circuit or the video. Try first to turn up the screeb control. If you get a white opicture then you have HI voltage so you have a video or video drive circuit problem. your going to need a service manual as well as an ocilliscope. to trouble shoot this set. if you dont understand what Im saying PLEASE call an experienced tech to assist you in this repair. good Luck

If the indicator light is on but you get no pic/sound then you have a bad power supply on the unit. Since you are not sure of the warranty status your best bet is to call samsung (or get online with them) and they can check the warranty of it for you. If it is under a warranty they will set you up and if it is not then (depending on if you like the tv or not) you can contact a service center in your area and the repair is a pretty basic fix that shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg.
That would be a burnt out lamp, or better yet the lamp blew up as in broken, when that happens you will not get sound. If it just gave up as in burnt out you will get sound but no picture. Both are the same the lamp needs to be replaced.
There are several easy things it could be. The speakers could have been turned off in your audio settings or if you hooked up a cable or satellite box, dvd, vcr, game box or other piece of equipment that had it's own lines in for sound that could be part of the problem. Sometimes if you use picture in picture or the index function you can accidentally swap input and the primary input no longer has sound going to it. I'd definitely recommend trying all the simple solutions first.
Try going into the menu and find something called, "center channel input." If it is on, the sound will not work. Turn it off, and the sound should be restored.
