Data seems to be lost and it crashes

I only bought this mp3 in April and it's been fine until now. The battery died so I charged it and when I switched it on, some of the lines in the menu were blank and the others said Unknown, this is the case for all music. When I tried to play the unknown items there was no sound. After going through a couple of menus it crashed and wouldn't switch off so I had to use the reset hole but when I switched it on againd it was still not working and crashes. The pictures I've downloaded to it are still viewable. One other thing, I'd used my home pc to install all the music and while travelling I've bought a laptop which I tried to put my music from my Iriver onto but it didn't work. But I did download 2 more CDs. I have listened to it since then once and it was ok. PLEASE HELP, I'm abroad and can't return it under warranty.

Checking charging system

Check the acid level in the battery. After a season running in hot weather, wet-plate batteries have often lost some water to evaporation. I see this often here in Texas. The new charge won't hold and electrical gremlins pop up often.
Also check for loose or corroded connectors on battery terminals and starter relay.

Sansa Clip Won't take a charge...

Are you sure the cable you are using provides both data and power to the device? Some cables are data only and will not charge the device despite appearing so.

Has it held a charge before? If this is a new device and has not yet ran down then charged fully again yet, then I would return it.

Battery

Uhm.. Do you plug it up to your computer to charge? Mine is old and dies after about two hours.. I know I need to replace. But in it's old age I guess (Bought from ebay) it won't charge connect to my computer.. So, maybe if you haven't tried already, to try that. Though, sounds like it's getting old like mine and will need a new battery soon.
