Supposed to be 512mb but only allowing 148mb???????
I bought a player off the dreaded EBAY, sold as a 512mb player. I have plugged it in to transer files but only allowed 14 songs on or so. I checked the capacity and indeed it is 512mb (478mb to be exact but close enough) but when everything visable is deleted it leaves only 148mb of memory available. Surely the software running the player can't be 300mb or so!!!! Even if it is, surely its a bit unfair to sell it as a 512mb player if you can only use a 1/4 of it!!!! Any idea's anyone? Guy I bought it off isn't being very helpful at all!!!!!
But will this not wipe off the player software too? I thought if I did that it would clean the whole drive out making it into a memory stick!!!But will this not wipe off the player software too? I thought if I did that it would clean the whole drive out making it into a memory stick!!!

Was it sold as faulty?, if not complain.

About your recent purchase of 16GB 4th Gen Slim MP3 MP4 Media Player with FM radio
You have been sold a fake sized player. it is hacked to show 16GB actual size may be around 1GB to 8GB. test your player with "H2TESTW 1.4" you will find it the first hit on www.google.com let other people know and open a dispute on paypal, you have been sold a fake item. Do not return the item for refund as sellers address is very likely wrong, useless to wait for a replacement player because they all are hacked. Get a partial refund. I paid 35usd, got 20usd refunded just now.
About your problem. The player doesn't require anything works with vista and xp /etc just by plugging it into your computer and then turn it on, it will show up on your my computer as a removeable disk.
when you bought this did you just get the in-dash unit or did it come with a brain unit as well .........if it was just the in-dash player you need to buy a brain unit to control bass & treble and other features for this unit when pioneer sold this the dash unit sold for$495.00 but the brain unit cost $599.00 it was a price grabber cause they wouldn't tell you it needs a brain unit (the actual full unit sold for $1200.00 brain/dash) yet it works with other pioneer in-dash units the person you bought from probably upgraded to the avhp-7500DVD and kept the brain unit from the one he sold you but good news its a few years old so i would checkout eBay for the brain unit
hope this answered your problem good luck
Hello Ron, Yes I got it resolved by buying a used one. Alpine charges $110 dollars for repair. But what I did was I bought one from ebay and sold mine on ebay for repairs. The difference that I ended up paying was $50. The used one I bought was $250 dollars and I sold mine for $200. Keep an eye open on EbAY for a good used one and then sell yours. Or else send it in to Alpine for repair. I hope this helps. i wish you luck and take care.
I have a generic 512MB MP3 player.
When formating this player using my PC WINDOWS XP I had to make sure to select the FAT file system (and not FAT32).
I hope this helps.
All the best,
CYBERFILMMAKER
But will this not wipe off the player software too? I thought if I did that it would clean the whole drive out making it into a memory stick!!!
