Question about HP Vs17 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

Monitor screen goes black

I have an HP vs17 flat panel monitor connected to HP Media Center m7060n. The monitor will increase in brightness for a second and then go completely black. It's not going into a standby mode, the power to the monitor is still on, and it still has sound. The screen will not come back on its own. The only way to get the screen to come back on is to shut the power off and then turn it back on. I reloaded the drivers but this didn't help.

I have a HP vs17 monitor that flickers then goes out, (black screen.) When I turn it on it comes on for a second then winks out over and over. I have checked all connections, removed and reinstalled all plugs etc. After turning on and off for a while it will stay on. If I leave it on sometimes it stays on for a long time. If I turn it off I will have the same problem again. Sorry for the earler wrong column post. Art.

I have the exact same problem you describe. Cheap China junk. I is such a shame because the picture is good when it is on. :(

I had the same problem and fought around it for long. if you know a little bit of electronic soldering, open the monitor and on the output side of the power supply, re-solder all the integrated circuit (IC) joints. I did that and now my monitor works fine. The particular IC is the "1505 IC which is a voltage regulator.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

I am still having the problem with the screen going black on my HP vs17. When I turn it off and on again it comes on for a second or two and winks out again. I found that if I smack it with a sharp blow on the back and turn it on it will stay on for a long time. This is not a fix but it`s better solution than slamming the monitor down on the desk to get it going. amcollector.

Try booting the computer in safemode you can do this by pressing f8 continuously when the computer is booting until a menu comes up select safemode. If this is unsuccessful then the monitor has a physical issue.

Why does my HP vs17 monitor screen keep going to blank black screen like it turned off but did'nt.....blue power button light is still on? Everything is running but no picture.....keeps happening everytime...

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell, dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.

if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.

When I turn my monitor on, the screen shows the desktop momentarily and then goes black. If I turn it off and on a couple more times, the desktop will stay on and function normally. Where is the likely...

Try the monitor on another computer, to check-out the monitor.

Does the POWER lamp on the monitor stay on when the monitor goes black? If so, then the monitor probably is OK.

Try a different monitor, to trouble-shoot the video-card.

Screen Black but Working

It goes black because it went into shutdown due to fault in the inverter circuits, check the 4 transistors in the inverter circuits for shorts, http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Dell%20E173FPb/

HP monitor vs17 goes black with power light flashing

I have repaired an HP 1702 monitor that had similar symptoms by replacing the capacitors on the power supply board but you have to have some electronic knowledge and do some soldering if you can buy the replacement capacitors($10+/-) from a supply store. They (at least 1) will be swollen up on the ends and may have a tar-like substance leaking from them. It is best to replace them all (may be 4 depending on the model).

Screen goes dim under different user

could be an issue of his resolution and refresh rate settings are close to being out of range for the monitor. Try lowering these settings to get better performance.
