Sounds like the tube cot a burn in the face of the tube . Unfortantly theres no fix foirthis except to chenge the tube. You are also going to need to have the horizontal sweep section checked out on the red tube or it will happenaagain . I have seen in the past a simple cold solder connection on the red yplk plug has caused this problem .. It is not a repair an amature or handi person can or should attempt to do Please seek out a trained tech to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

Sounds like you may have just left one of the wires loose from the red tube. Not likely an issue from the gren tube but you can always cover the top of the lens and let just green shine up. That may help narrow it down also.

Here is more detailed info for you also.....

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

You have one of two problems. Sometimes both.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Problem #2)

Your TV may have a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can hire a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a step by step picture instruction guide, original OEM parts, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

I Have green squiggle lines that are moving around on the screen. I can minimize the lines by darkening the picture and toning down the color which makes the picture too dark. Any idea what is causing this...

What is the liquid under the lens

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

First of all you need to find out which CRT leaked and replace it before any other repairs are done. The clear liquid is conductive and has done damage to the CRT board or boards.

RCA 52inch TV

If the screen control for the green picture tube is set too high, then the colors will be greenish, there will be green where there should be black and there will be fine curved lines (retrace lines) in the picture. If you feel confident then you can open the set and look for the focus block which has the 3 focus and 3 screen controls. One row is labeled Screen and the green control will be the center one. Try turning that control down a little and see is the green background and curved lines go away. If they do not go away then there is something more serious wrong. If you do not have experience working on projection sets then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
