If the bobbin stitch is loose tighten the top thread tension one number at a time & sew alittle bit & if it's still loose tighten it one more number till you get the correct stitch

SOURCE: appearence of loop and no zigzag stich on ls-2125i brother

The loopy stitching is usually do to threading the machine with the presser foot down.

Raise the presser foot and re-thread or pull about 8" of thread through the needle and see if the loopy stitches go away.

This may also be the issue with the zig-zag stitch.

When the machine is threaded with the presser foot down, the tension is closed and the thread cannot enter as it should for the tension to control the flow of thread to the needle. The thread then feeds too fast and the stitching is distorted.

SOURCE: top stitche is to tight and bottom stitche is to loose

Meaning you have adjusted the tension for the top thread as well as the bobbin?

Use two distinct colors of thread - one for the top and one for the bottom.

Thread the machine with the presser foot up.

The two threads should meet in the middle of the stitch with neither obvious on the opposite side of the seam.

Set the top thread tension to 4 and adjust the bobbin as needed.

SOURCE: Suddenly my brother xl-2220 is

totally rethread, and do this test, rethread with the presser foot up, pull the thread it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, pull thread, it should barely move. This will seat your thread in the tension discs, Also, don't be afraid to change your needle often.

SOURCE: tension problem

.There is a little screw attached to the bobbin carrusel. You can try to turn it just a little bit. The reason is that this carrusel gets loose after a while.

Clean and oil your machine at least monthly.

Hope something helps!

Thread tension will not adjust.

Check your setting, you have your stitches set too far apart. Wherever on your machine you see the zigzag stich you will see other stich settings, look at it until you see the right amount of stiches you want.
