to reset an ipod you flip the hold switch on the back off then hold the middle button and play/pause button at then same time until you see the apple logo. a reset is the only thing you can do besides letting the battery drain. (this happened to me also i suspected a certain song of causing it if it happens again try to recall the song playing) also i would clear the ipods music and re-sync it
Check the volume using the buttons on it and also in your settings/volume limit. If that doesn't work, resync it with iTunes and see if there is a parental control in place preventing music to be played.
Did you try a hard reset? Hold the center button down while holding the down arrow. the screen will go black and an apple logo will appear . When it reboots try again.
Please try resetting the ipod by pressing the center and play button on your ipod until it displays apple logo. Also try restoring it to factory settings by seeing this link from apple---
my friend bought me a ipod for me ... it works nicely for nearly nine months but suddenly wen i connected my ipod with my handsfree everything was fine but all content was lost that i stored in ipod so i doubtly connected to my pc ..it shows everything that wat all previously stored in ipod even i can play but wen i disconnected my ipod again it shows no music no videos and no photos but the space was occupied .....
It sounds like a problem with your hard drive. I know it sounds strange when everything else is working but in my experience and I've fixed thousands of iPod videos. 95% of the time, if the logic board is actually functioning, if you have a fault it's the hard drive.
move the hold switch to on, then back to off...then hold down the play and menu buttons at the same time for 5-10 seconds. this should restart everything. Good Luck!
The clicker noise you hear is separate from the audio output functionality of the iPod. It sounds like an issue with the headphone jack possibly. Try a soft reset by pressing the menu and center buttons at the same time for 5-7 seconds.
