Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

The word Access appears on the LCD screen and nothing else.

The camera is trying to access the memory card, and it can't. Make sure you are using the correct type of memory card, and make sure it isn't locked (via the lock switch). If possible, find another memory card that is the right type, and see if it works. I hope this helps!

Canon Powershot A2000IS pictures corrupted be color wash.

This could be a failing SD card causing corruption of the stored files (the SD card isn't an ebay special is it? there have been some very bad quality cards coming from China recently). Recommend first trying another brand of SD card.

After you've tried another card and it's still doing this, then the symptoms could also be impending CCD image sensor failure. Unfortunately you cannot fix this yourself. But as the A2000 is a relatively new camera, it's likely that you've owned it less than one year and it's still under warranty.

If in US or Canada, call 1-800-OK-CANON to arrange for warranty repair.

E 18 problem

the E18 means the lens system has a problem. I had it with my S2 and sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Eventually it stopped working. The only solution was sending it to repair, they changed the lens system.

Best Regards
