Question about GE 46GW 948 46" Rear Projection Television

Menu going crazy on the screen!

The menu on my GE 46GW948 46" TV will not stop popping up on the screen. When it does pop up none of the control buttons on the bottom of the tv will control it. When the channel buttons, volumn buttons & the on and off buttons do work they seem to be one button off. I press the volumn up button to turn the darn thing off. After a few minutes, it works fine again but doesn't last very long. I've unplugged the set overnight hoping to reset it but nothing has helped. The menu just keeps popping up!

Hisense 50K360G menu keeps popping up on screen and drastically the volume turns up

Try removing the battery in the remote. If it stops happening, you need to buy a new remote. If it not, the control electronics is messing up.

Menu pops up repeatedly and will not go away for more than 3 minutes. Controls on front of tv not functioning properly pressing channel up/down not only changes the selection but also immediately selects...

Had same issue, I was fed up and as a last resort i took the TV apart and simply un-soldered the menu button from the control board. I put the tv back together and its been working ever since. Like i said, its a quick fix and a last resort, but if its worth it to you to hold off from buying a new tv, this may just do the trick. Be aware that it may make the display text on your screen illegible and I did have one other problem about a month later when the tv input changed and the tv remote stopped functioning properly. i was not able to switch the tv back to my cable box input but a 6 dollar universal remote from walmart solved that.
hope this helps

Menus pops up

The menu button on the TV itself is bad and must be replaced ( or removed ). Alternatively the whole front button assembly can be disconnected. Just follow the wire back to the main chassis and unplug it.

RCA HDTV MENU AND VOLUME CONTROL POPS ON AND OFF SCREEN.

My TV was doing the same thing. Someone told me to disconnect the front menu buttons and this worked for me. The board goes haywire. You have to take off the front black panel on the bottom first then the grey front panel where the controls are. Once you do this you will see where there is a plug from tv to the panel where the control buttons are. Just disconnect. You will only be able to use your remote for TV. Its a cheap and easy fix. Just lots of screws to get the panels off and on. Good luck!
