How do i turn off the sleep timer for my Mitsubishi HS-U545 VHS VCR without a remote

It sounds like it is set to a TV station and since all the analogue stations have now gone you will only get static. Without a remote you wan't be able to switch it. I suggest you either shop around for a replacement (try Curry's partmaster) or use a universal one.

Solved my problem by reading a previous post about taking apart the remote and cleaning the contacts. Believe it or not it the remote is working again.

this sounds like a cleaning and tape carriage alignment is needed, that not too hard to do if you tinker.Service on this is not too much at electronic or tv repair

I think the tape is blank. I mean not recorded.

Is timer selected? If so, you cannot "interrupt" it during this selection...accordianman
