The problem you are describing is a problem with the flash charging indicator switch inside the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $83 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

This is actually a repair issue with the camera. The flash charging indicator switch needs to be replaced. You may want to call Olympus Customer Service to discuss repair policies and procedures. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.
That is the flash charging indicator blinking constantly on the screen. It sounds like you need a new battery. When batteries start to fail the flash tends to stop working. You can get a battery at www.needbattery.com
They guarantee thier batteries for a year and they are 1 of the cheapest stores for batteries you can find on or off the net. Hope this helps.
have you tried using lithium batteries? alkaline batteries. just try out different batteries. if it is still the same, have your camera checked in a service center for maybe it needs a replacement or there is something loose inside.
have you guys tried using other battery types like lithium and alkaline? if its not with the batteries, have it checked out in a service center because there might be a an issue with the charging for the flash.
It is something that seems to be a problem with the Stylus 410s. Olympus will not repair them unless they are under warrenty, I've tried. My best advice, and what I am in the midst of myself (I have 2 of these with the same problem) is to file with the BBB. Perhaps if enough complaints come through, they will begin to fix the stylus 410 defect as they should. Good luck. =)
