Canon zr700 does not initialize memory card

That is the pinch roller. If it does not press the tape against the capstan, then the tape will not pass the read/write heads. Replace it.

you may have to enitial the time and date wen you set it

According to Canon's specs, the ZR600 uses DV tapes, not memory cards.

This totally sucks. I have a similar issue with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When trying to initialize the card, its fails and says "Process terminated with error." It also says "check the memory card" when I first put it in. Write-protect is off. My other SanDisk class 4 SDHC card seems to work ok.
I could have sworn it worked before and I was able to transfer videos to my Mac on 10.6, but I can't remember for sure if I was using the SDXC card or just the built-in memory. Very frustrating.

try to reformat the card either from camera or pc. If reformating doesn't work, then try a different card. Some camera's are touchy when it comes to the memory cards

INSTALL THE CANON DRIVERS FROM CANON WEBSITE
USE A VIDEO SOFTWARE LIKE ULEAD OR WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
MAKE YOUR CONNCECTION ON THE PLAY MODE AND PLAY THE MINI DV
BEFORE THE PREVIOUS QUOTE MAKE THE AV-DV OPTION ON IN YOUR CAMERA SETTINGS

I had the same problem but fixed it by initializing the SDHC Card. It explains it in the manual. If you go to the menu and then down to the card it gives the option to initialize it. I did that for all my cards and now they work fine. Hope that helps...
