TV shuts off by itself. Sometimes I can turn it back on. It will stay on for 5 min./10 min. / 1 hr. /2 hrs. (one never knows). I have to unplug it from the wall and wait 30 min. to 2 hrs. and then we go through the cycle again.
Has anyone gotten a resolution for this the only answer I saw was the SSB Board. Is there a cheap place to get parts. Philips model 50P8341 goes off by itself also wont come back on if you unplug it for a while it will come back on.

The TV you have is known for having a defective SSB board. This board is located on the left side of the TV chassis and sits in a upright(verticle)position. The dimensions of this board are roughly 4" X 5". It also has a plastic support lever that sits on top of the board. You should be able to lift this lever with one hand and use the other to unplug the SSB board if you are replacing it. Not sure what the latest prices are but it would not surprise me if this board is on back order.

Power supply or sweep suppys have parts that are overheating and breaking down or cold solder connections. Call someone who knows this set like the local authorized magnavox/Phillips dealer/servicer. Good Luck

My tv turns itself off after nearly a hour. And the colors look weird and the bottom of the screen is warped in one corner. Is this worth fixing?
