Give more details please.
- case 1 : does it not turn on at all ?
- case 2: or does the screen stay blank with that red line, but laptop still makes noises (a sign for hardware activity and a proper boot up..!, but the lcd monitor is broke then)
- case 3: or do have a steady red line on the display all the time whatever you do in windows?
(your lcd monitor maybe damaged in that area,) you will have to use it that way..then.

you may try to connect any other vga monitor to the laptop's graphic card (the 3 -row pin input in the back of the laptop) to double-check.
In both last error cases, just to see if error is still there (if not, you're lucky, work with the external monitor then.., if yes, it's the laptops' graphics card then, bad luck as in case 1).

check this out, if still problems, please give more prob details - you know where to find us, don't you? :-)

Well, unfortunately your TV supports only the NTSC System, while the most of South American states are using the PAL TV System.
Your only chance is to connect a TV tuner supporting both system to make the conversion between the systems.

I have just bought a Toshiba SD590EKB dvd player and it will not play certain discs, it keeps on saying wrong regional code. How can I solve this problem?

Check the back of the dvd player and it will have a small sticker with a small picture of a globe (or earth) and it will have a number being one through to six, this will determine what region discs you can play in you machine. Ill list the regions and their codes, i hope this helps.

Region 1 - The U.S., U.S. territories and Canada.

Region 2 - Europe*, Japan, Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Greenland.

Region 3 - Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong .

Region 4 - Mexico, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific. Islands, Caribbean

Region 5 - Russia (former USSR), Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa, North Korea, Mongolia

Region 6 - China

Good luck.

Can't play dvd-r or dvd+r

try to buy and play original dvd movies. when it play, it is how you burn your dvd, use some software which will automatically create dvd movies so you can play to your DVD player.. If not, try to clean DVD lens using lens cleaner. usually used DVDr will not play to DVD player.. try also to use new blank DVD
