The LCD became harder and harder to turn on (had to keep flicking switch on base several times until it finnally catches and comes on) and now it just doesn't come on...any suggestions?

Re: Need help with TV
Must be a problem with the back light circuit. This not a repair for the amature repair person or handyperson seek out a pro as there are no user replaceable parts inside this unit. Good Luck

I sounds like the internal power supply board was failing and has now completely failed. What is the vintage of the TV? There was a large problem with some components used in electronics for many years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both. Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced. If you repeatedly turn it on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't. Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for 5 mins, then try.
If you aren't tech savvy, this unit needs to go in for repair.
If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up. Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit. IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering).
There is a manual switch on the bottom of the TV. Flick it on and TV screen should come on. The power light will come with this switch off but the screen won't. It had me cursing for a while until I saw the little switch.
My concern is that this is a power supply issue. Hope it is still under warranty. Find a good qualified service shop. I would call first and get some estimates of repair.
I have the exact same problem! I have it hooked up to a power strip now to unplug it by flicking of the power strip and waiting for the red light to go out then I turn it back on while Channeling up 10 X's and then down and up until it comes on. I listen to the sound of the switch which it comes on. I turn it off if it is faint and then back on and channel up. Crazy process but it's been working. It takes about 10 minutes everytime to get the TV on until I get a tech to come out and look at it. The capacitor keeps a charge which is why the light is flashing with a code for 60 seconds./JJ
press and hold select and red until the led blinks twice type in 0 0 6 0 press the power button, if the tv turns off then the press select and the remote should work all the tv functions.
If the tv does not turn off then press tv then the power button and keep doing this until the tv turns off, once it turns off press select and it should work.
