I had the same problem you can go to sony.com and get everything worked out you may need to lie but it will get fixed just don?t say weather or someone broke it or they will say not covered it is a bought $15-25 tops hope this helped. And you can use a small flat head screwdriver to release the USB.

Hi, Hold switch operates by sliding its cover little bit and if you slide cover all the way, usb port will pop out. Slide cover few times that might fix stuck hold switch inside. Hop this info will help you. Thanks
The most common cause is a flat battery. There is a trick to charging
the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned
on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do...
1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting
"System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
i kinda have that prolem too..try pressing reset quickly, located inside the usb cover.after that the screen displays "access" then thats it....... the good thing about it that it doesnt remove the data obtained...just press reset quickly as possible..
hiya I have a sony bean too and it does exactly the same thing as yours, if you havent sorted it out yet all you have to do is look under the usb flap and you will see a reset button, push it gentally with a pin, it will work agauin and you wont loose all your music, hope this helps
